Cooking Programmes on TV

I'm a great fan of cooking programmes on TV, really good ones, not those that seem to be there just to simply push a cause. Even more so, I love some of the cooking competition programmes. For the last few months I've been avidly following Australian Master Chef. I love this programme.

I've watched people who started out as reasonably good home cooks develop into top line chefs who could contribute to top line restaurants. The judges and visiting guests on this programme have been particularly supportive of the competitors and the results are amazing.

Another thing I enjoy about the programme is learning about cooking techniques and more exotic ingredients that I've not heard of before. It's not that I'll get to use everything I learn in my own cooking, but by having my knowledge extended I've become more adventurous in my own cooking.

I'm rather looking forward to watching TV tonight, but sad as well. My two favourite contestants in Australian Master Chef are cooking off in the final tonight. One of them will win the supreme award. However, I'm also feeling sad, as this is the last night of the programme. Watching it has consumed a lot of my time, so now I'll have to search for a new favourite.

There was a series of cooking program in my country that was very popular. The top chefs were sent to villages in China, and they had to catch their own fish, chicken and harvested the wild herbs, and they had to cook with the primitive stoves.

scheng1 I'd enjoy watching that. We've had programmes here in NZ where they have to do a similar thing, catch and gather their produce, but not always cook it on a primitive stove.

I am also a fan of cooking programs. Now in Italy there is a lot of talking about the Italian Master Chef, after that the famous Chef Cracco "ruined" the Amatriciana sauce adding garlic. He is no more really appreciated.
