SOS! I'm in Gmail Hell

Once upon a time I opened a Google+ account, long before there was Gmail. I also had Google Adsense and a Blogspot blog. And I had an email adress that ended in sbcglobal.net. A little later, Gmail came on the scene. So I got a gmail account. It has served me well until today. Now I can't access it. It started yesterday when I ran into a problem with Blogger and had to change my Google password. That logged me out of all my Google accounts. So when I opened IE today, I was asked to log in. After I logged in, I was redirected to another page that asked me to start a gmail account.

There seems to be no option to get to a page where I can log into the account where my mail is actually waiting for me to read it. I'm asked, instead, to start a new gmail account that would become my primary email for all my google accounts. But I think once I do it will ask me to open a Google+ account when I already have one established. I need a human to help me know how opening that new gmail account will really affect my established accounts.

I don't want to suddenly be locked out of adsense, blogger, etc because of not knowing the consequences ahead of time. None of this makes sense. They will not let me put a gmail address I already have into that space for opening a new account. It just says someone else is using it and suggests an alternative. It no longer offers the option of signing in under a different email account. All I want is to be able to log into an established gmail account that is not associated with my other goggle accounts yet. I would love to be able to associate the gmail account I use with my other accounts if they would just let me.

Can anyone help me out here?

I have not had that problem, but I know other people that have had a similar issue.

There was some kind of built-in protect Google inaugurated where you can get back into an account you are logged out of. I've opted not to take advantage of that, so I could be in the same kind of trouble you are at a future date.

All this is news to me. I suggest that you log off completely and then sign in again. Things might work .

I went through that whole verification thing with my current account I use last night. So what happened today is a complete shock. My current gmail address is where most of my important emails are sent and serves as a log in for about half my accounts. Goggle say we are supposed to write for real people, but they sure don't write their help files for real people.

What happened is that I got logged off in IE. Then when I get to the page to log in, they divert me to the page that gives me no option but to open a new account. I can't get back to the log-in page.

There are posts in Google Search where you can find solutions.

I've has some similar trouble like you have had with gmail and I could not figure a way out so I just gave up. Maybe somebody knows how.

Since the same password is used for all Google products, the new password you used for Blogger should work everywhere.

I finally got in.

BarbRad wrote on February 20, 2015, 3:41 AM

It wasn't the password, but the email address. I finally got in and I hope the right Gmail address is now associated with all parts of my Google account. What a pain.

BeckyWiegers wrote on February 20, 2015, 5:52 AM

How did you finally do it?

maxeen wrote on February 20, 2015, 8:56 AM

Can't you claim it back with your mystery questions?

Sorry to hear about this. What an annoying hassle. Hope you get this sorted out soon. What problem did you encounter with Blogger? This link should take you to the login form for Gmail - https :// mail . google. com/ Have you tried this? Where are you being taken when you try to log in?

BarbRad Well it's too late now, since you have already solved the problem, but I was going to suggest trying to log in from another browser. I have different gmail accounts (personal, business, etc) and sometimes it get confusing, so I always try to open my sessions in differnt browsers. Hope you have access to all your important information from that account.

I am sure there will be a lot of people here who can help you out with this dilemma. I wish i could help too, but am useless in that area.

If it was me I would do this:

Close everything you have open, saving any documents you're working on.
Install CCleaner (it's free), and run it to delete all your cookies and trackers. That will erase confusion caused by cookies thinking bits of your Google empire still have the old password.
If you have any other devices logged into Google, log them out as well.
If you have Chrome installed, you will be able to log in from the home page.
If not go to gmail.com and you'll see a little grid on the top right that on my version says +You Gmail Images and a little grid which when clicked shows all the other sites you can access with your Google sign in.
Attempt to log into Gmail from there.
Once there, you should be able to access all your other sites as the little grid is there in the top corner on your Gmail account too.

Of course, now that you are back in, you should be fine. If you are as Google-ified as it sounds like you are, you will find that your G-accounts work better in Chrome. I have Chrome as primary browser, then Firefox for secondary (music streaming) and IE as reserve backup when I have to rebuild. Even at work I persuaded IT to install Chrome for me as the webtool I use for audit submission LOATHES IE.

Oh, man, I have no idea. I was made to open a gmail account for a freelance assignment so that I could use Google docs, and when did that, they wanted me to sign up for G+, and the blogs came after that. However, I did already have an AdSense account, and it was no problem to connect it. However, I do have one suggestion--since Soonerdad3 mentioned that other people ay have had this problem, you should actually try to Google it, of all things. You may find a support forum somewhere.

I have had a similar problem, but can´t remember how I sorted it out, it´s really frustrating to be in that loop I know. Hope someone else has the answer.

Can you call them?? Do they have a support #?
