Toby - a surprising gift

Toby the kitten did not choose to live with us, and we certainly did not choose him. One of our dogs, Teddy, brought him home in his mouth and dumped him on the lawn. That was a couple of months ago and at that time he was a scrawny kitten, half starved, scared out of his mind (which was understandable) full of fleas and fighting for his life.

In no time at all Toby began to improve, first we rid him of the fleas, then we fed him with kitten milk and kitten food three times a day. His fur grew long and silky and he purred whenever we picked him up or put some food down. The only thing that remains the same is that this young cat has a fighting spirit. When he lies on his back he is all legs and claws. We should have called him Rambo! He is learning to ‘play’ with his claws in, but I have to stop the play before he gets too excited.

The other two cats were gentle kittens but they are females. I am hoping that Toby grows into a sensible law abiding cat eventually.

Aw! That was such a sweet thing your dog did. And your little Toby reminds me a lot of my Nibbler with his coloring! Good for ya'll though for taking him in!

Heheheh that is a sweet gift from teddy. I wonder why teddy get him? Lol! Maybe teddy got sad and pity him.Our new cat is the same, we can pet him a little now, but his claws are all out a lot of times and I don't like it really.
