Passport Renewal - TBT Post

Throwing a TBT post here and will write about my passport renewal experience a couple of years ago. It was around this month last year that I finally renewed my passport.

Setting up an appointment is rather easy. One needs to do it online. It is very convenient as you get to pick your preferred schedule. Everything that you need, application forms, requirements, answers to usual questions, are already posted. However, the actual process leaves much to be desired.

So I actually arrived earlier than my schedule. I was there a good thirty minutes ahead of time. A good idea but not so much. Man! It was so hot in the place. I felt like I was being baked in an oven. The actual offices have air-conditioning but the waiting area... blah!!! Hot! Hot! Hot!!! Anyway, there was a long wait... loooonnnnnggggggg wait indeed!!! The encoding part took forever. Seems the employees have no sense of urgency. Everyone is moving at a snails pace.

So yeah, back to the encoding part, that was the longest time that I had to wait, more than an hour. The actual encoding part only took five minutes. The picture taking, maybe thirty seconds? Up yeah, I went Walter White for my passport picture this time out. I put on my mean face but it was disallowed. Blah!!! I also botched my digital signature. It doesn't look like any of my actual signatures. It looked like it a bit but on the first glance it looks like a cave man mindlessly scribbled down something incoherent. I decided to just stick with the regular processing of my passport, I ain't going out of the country any time soon. I also decided to come back and pick up my passport instead of getting it delivered. After all, the passport renewal office is located in a mall, I can do some other things when picking up my passport.

Does the snails pace insure accuracy and a job well done? Will you ever see your passport again? The ongoing story of passport processing. Never had one or reason to get one.

I got mine renewed last year and yes everything was done online. The appointment was great to the dot. The signature was a tough thing having to do with a size not bigger than half inch and the photo session, the finger prints - all fingers I just did not like. The passport was sent to me. A nice experience all in all.

Sadly, it doesn't. Managed to get my passport already but it was the longest afternoon in my life!!! LOL!

Good for you then!!! Wish it was as easy but no, it wasn't.

Here we can apply for passports at the post office. Mine expired long ago, but I haven't renewed it because I have no plans to leave the country anytime soon unless it's to visit our neighbor to the north.

This gave me a good laugh because it reminds me a lot of my experience getting my passport renewed for the last time. My actual, legal signature got rejected and they had to retake my picture after they realized I was wearing a cross necklace that was visible. My final picture has me with a complete death stare because I was so frustrated!

My country has really improved on that front, one can get a passport in about 1 Hour. Now if you live abroad it is complicated since it will take about 1 month due to the consular process, etc.

One hour is fine to be honest.

Would love to see that 'death stare' of yours MsBiz . LOL!

Right allen0187 by my country's standards that is the best service ever. Not even in the US you can get a Passport in 1 Hour.

Passports in the post office, now that's a good idea.

Having the passports renewal offices in the malls has been a good idea because it gives people, especially those who come from distant places, a chance to be able to windowshop (at least) or have a nice time going around or even seeing a movie afterwards.

It's pretty intense. Let's just say I've been afraid of being pegged as a hitwoman rather than tourist or relief worker emoticon :winking:

Point taken FernandoSHA .
