Had A Little Accident!

Yesterday, my father in law got his truck stuck in a gully/ditch that we have at the top of our hill. He was planning to use the van to pull it out so he backed the van up to where the truck was. His intention was to get out and attached a metal chain from the truck to the van. Well, he made a little mistake...okay, well a HUGE mistake. He accidentally put the van in neutral instead of park. When he got out of the van, it rolled right down the hill. I was afraid it was going to keep going and possibly flip over. Instead, it took a little turn and hit a tree head on.

Well, the windshield is severely damaged from when the air bags deployed. The bumper is horribly damaged and so is the hood. There is a bit of damage on the drivers side that makes closing the driver's side door hard. But the worst part? He cracked the radiater. The radiater alone is going to cost $220 to get a new one.

Luckily, my father in law is pretty good with cars. So he can install the radiater himself. But he is going to have to take it to a mechanic of body work shop to get the other stuff fixed.

Oops, one of those moments when hindsight is a wonderful thing

Yeah, agreed. I'm just glad no one got hurt and that the damage wasn't worse than it was.

Oops, that was a bad moment. Glad nobody was hurt when it happened.

That was a very expensive oversight. Oh well, I am absolutely sure he did not mean to do that. He is probably feeling pretty annoyed with himself at the moment!

Oops - I take it he didn't put the parking brake on either. We all have these 'blonde moments' now and then!

Yeah, he's pretty pissed. Luckily, there wasn't more damage. Probably looking at around $1,000 because of the body work that needs done.

Yep, no parking brake either.
