Things I Miss In Entertainment

I miss good old comedy shows that didn't use four-letter words and were something the entire family could laugh at. For instance, “I Love Lucy,” “The Jack Benny Show,” “Burns and Allen,” and “Ozzie and Harriet.” Comedy then was not sarcasm.

I miss old movies that didn't show everything and leave nothing to the imagination when a love scene came on. For example: “Tea and Sympathy,” “Love in the Afternoon,” “It's A Wonderful Life,” “Casablanca” and “Gone With The Wind.”

I miss old mystery movies that had no gory scenes to give you nightmares for days after. Like, “Charlie Chan,” Nick and Nora Charles,” “The Maltese Falcon,” “Topper,” “The Man Who Knew Too Much,” “Mr. Moto” and “Rear Window.” Mysteries were not filled with stories of depraved acts of mutilation and rape.

Do any of you remember any of these? I miss the innocence that we had then. I miss being able to use my imagination to fill in the blanks.

I dislike indiscrete advertisements for feminine hygiene needs. As I spent most of my life in England I am not familiar with some of those shows that you mention but I agree with you that there is too much explicit sex, violence and gore in the media now.

I love the old shows and movies. We've been watching Carol Burnett on MeTV and oh so funny. I do like the modern stuff, but I love watching the skill they had in the old days to tell stories.

I agree with you and love all the titles you mention. That's why I spend more and more time watching Turner Classic Movies and MeTV.

I have to agree with you. I remember all of those that you listed and would like to find some kind of venue to watch them again.

I love all of those shows myself. I agree with you there is way much violence in TV and movies these days
