Things I Miss In Entertainment
I miss good old comedy shows that didn't use four-letter words and were something the entire family could laugh at. For instance, “I Love Lucy,” “The Jack Benny Show,” “Burns and Allen,” and “Ozzie and Harriet.” Comedy then was not sarcasm.
I miss old movies that didn't show everything and leave nothing to the imagination when a love scene came on. For example: “Tea and Sympathy,” “Love in the Afternoon,” “It's A Wonderful Life,” “Casablanca” and “Gone With The Wind.”
I miss old mystery movies that had no gory scenes to give you nightmares for days after. Like, “Charlie Chan,” Nick and Nora Charles,” “The Maltese Falcon,” “Topper,” “The Man Who Knew Too Much,” “Mr. Moto” and “Rear Window.” Mysteries were not filled with stories of depraved acts of mutilation and rape.
Do any of you remember any of these? I miss the innocence that we had then. I miss being able to use my imagination to fill in the blanks.
