Why did we rent our Florida House?

We have a perfectly nice house in Ocala, Florida which we bought after the winter two years ago. We rented it last winter for 4 months and this winter for 6 months. What was I thinking? Probably that I would miss the grandkids if we were away for 3 months.

I have to tell you after another 10 inches of snow was dumped on us in the last 24 hours, a little loneliness is looking pretty good. I am seriously considering if I will rent again next winter, I don't think so. I want to option to escape if we feel like it and believe me, right now, I really feel like it.

Of course by September I will have forgotten how cold and miserable it is here during the winter.

Wow, I just keep seeing pictures of all of this snow. I don't blame you for wanting to escape. I have never had to deal with snow, but since I am a baby even with the rain, I probably wouldn't be too crazy about it. lol

It just keeps coming and coming and it is so cold too, no doubt it is winter here.

I do not think that I could ever rent out my property.

If I could I would keep a house here in Spain for wintering in when I go back to the UK to live. I´m already dreading months on end of cold and wet weather there.

A 4 month rental pays all the expenses for a year taxes, insurance etc. That is a pretty big incentive

We got a very good deal on the house in Florida so yes we can manage it but my mother is 99 and I wasn't ready to be away from her for 3 months. :)

Ah, Ocala is such a beautiful place. I used to camp there with a group of friends. What good times we had visiting the Azalea gardens and skiing on the small lake that adjoined the property. I'll bet that area is completely built out by now. Memories.
I hope you manage to get through this major snow storm that you have pictured. Yes, Florida sounds really great about now.

Even though I am not loving the cold this winter, there is nothing that could ever get me to leave the North ever again... not even for a few months. I don't need a warmer climate; I just need a cozier living space.

I think Ocala is beautiful too. We love our home there and have family living nearby. :)

I am nice and snug but you can't stay in all the time and it is so cold out and snowy!!

Like you mentioned you will probably forget about all this snow come spring or September. Wishing you stamina for all the winter you are having.

That does seem a bit of a shame to have a nice warm, snow-free, ice-free home in Florida that you aren't able take advantage of!!

Thanks Roberta, it has indeed been quit challenging and we have more coming today and tomorrow. :)

It does doesn't it. I think we are pretty sure we will use it next year at least for a couple of months.:)
