Worried about going back to work

I work in the offshore oil drilling industry. Finding work has been very easy for the past three years. Now that the price of crude oil has been reduced so much the oilfield has slowed down.

Lots of guys are out of work. It is a scary time to be in this line of work.

As a result, I have not been called back to work in a while. This is scary. I really don't know what to do now. Do I jump ship and look for something that is more secure? Or do I weather this storm? Yikes.

I will probably weather the storm. I always have money in the bank to live on if something like this happens. It takes some financial responsibility, but I have managed to do it. A few years ago I would have been in trouble if this had happened.

Yikes, hope something comes thru soon. Having something in savings is a very good thing.

This is definitely from a different perspective than those of us who delight in the prices go down, I'd never considered the other side of the story. Here in New Zealand our prices went back up a little yesterday. Hope all turns out well for you.

Glad you have some back to be safe. I hope it improves for you but I do like the lower prices

I'm glad you can wait and see. I have too many doctor bills for us to ever save money for long. I hope they call you soon.

Cyclical industries are very difficult for so many reasons.
