Money Is The Root Of All Evil

Whenever I hear someone says that "money is evil," I just shake my head in disbelief. My thought is, how can something which sustains life and even gives you convenience and luxuries can be called evil? I believe that there is a better argument to this.

Money at all is not evil. We all work hard for this to be able to sustain our basic needs and even beyond. But what is evil when greed comes in and you wish to have a lot more even resorting to stealing, cheating and using other people just to acquire a lot more.

If one becomes too obsessed in having more than what they can have and turn to evil ways just to have it, that is when I considered it worst. And when money is used to hurt people, buy justice and even life, this is horrendous.

Its fine to have wealth but it is good if we have acquired it through hard work and in good means.

That saying must have been coined by some paupers who did not get any help from the rich (lol). Money is like fire. It has to be properly used and then all is well.

The money itself is not the problem. I think it is more the system that can be called unfair. The rich only gets richer and the poor can only get poorer.

True. It is the love for money that is not really good. We should truly use it well.

I see your point there. The rich gets richer and the poor gets poorer. And the rich just cannot get enough of getting rich. Its fine if they got their riches through hard work

One of my favorite quotes is " There is enough in this world for every man's need but not enough for one man's greed" We need money and there is nothing wrong in wanting to have money but our methods define our character.

You are right, it's not the money that is evil but the greed of people wanting more. I admit, since retire and with less Mooney I am very happy.

I have to agree with you. Money does help us survive, and provide our family with the basic necessities.

I always like to read when this subject is the topic. Money is necessary to not only help ourselves, but others too. I agree with your wise statements.

The original saying was "The love of money is the root of all evil", which despite still being inaccurate does have a more sensible meaning.

This is one of the most oft misquoted lines I know of. You did a very good job of pointing out how it is not the money that is evil. Love of money is the root of all evil.

Money isn't the root of all evil. It is how money is used which is the root of evil. It all comes down to the person spending all that money and what he is spending it on which makes the matter evil or not.

that is right. it is how we acquire it that counts

cheri wrote on August 4, 2015, 2:49 AM

It is better to have less than have a lot of it but with no peace of mind

cheri wrote on August 4, 2015, 2:50 AM

Yes it really does but the greed of it is not doing us good
