I Wanted to be a Cryogenically Frozen Corpse

Sometimes it's so funny submitting for the oddest background acting roles. The other day I saw a role available on Elementary to portray a cryogenically frozen corpse. You had to leave a comment that you were okay with having special effect makeup applied to make you look frozen. Hey! That sounded like fun to me - and at least it would be an interior scene. Now if they'd said just "frozen corpse" then I supposed it could be outside, but the "cryogenically" means, to me anyway, it would have to be inside.

I submitted, but didn't get it. I'm not sure how many "corpses" they needed. I was disappointed! But then again, I was just on Elementary doing still shots, so that could be one reason I didn't get the corpse job.

I would love to have a picture of me as a frozen corpse - hahaha! Oh well.

amyk49 Well I am sure you need to have some sort of advanced mind-body control to play a role like that, no? Besides I don't think a Cryogenic capsule is very comfortable emoticon :winking:

Very true. Now that you mention it, I'm surprised they didn't say that you must NOT be claustrophobic. :)

amyk49 Besides the obvious needs for a particular role/job, do they give you a list of conditions/requirements for the role?

Maybe if they do something along those lines again you will get your chance.

Each role will give a description of what they're looking for; male/female/ ethnicity/age range/etc. Sometimes they might say, be willing to run, be willing to get wet, be willing to have special makeup applied, etc. So they do spell it out for you, usually anyway.

I've had a couple chances to be a dead body, but no luck so far LOL.

They will also list any special wardrobe that you need to provide; black shoes, white button-up shirt, clown hat, whatever lol.

OK, I see, I supposse they do that for liability purposes as well.

That is interesting to read that there are jobs for that. I need to look into maybe applying to do something like that in the future.

I get most of my work through Central Casting NYC, and their affiliates through Casting Networks.

Maybe this is how they use up all those actors and actresses who are looking for a job!

Lol You really had me there I thought you really wanted to be frozen. Maybe it is just as well you didn't get the part sometimes they just freeze the head, that might hurt!! lol The head removal part.

Maybe next time you'll get a job you really like acting on. Lol!

amyk49 wrote on January 29, 2015, 6:14 PM

Yeah, the head removal doesn't sound like fun at all!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed! I'm looking forward to shooting Season 4 of Orange is the New Black. I've been on that show for three seasons now, and it's the best job ever!

Thanks for the information.

That just sounds... weird. It would be something to laugh about later.

Now I'm going to have to go and read your introduction profile to find out what other fascinating things you do!
