To people in US Northeast: I hope you stay safe

All day today, I have been hearing reports of the ‘historic’ which has hit north eastern part of US. There is forecast of almost 3 feet of with strong force winds which are threatening to paralyze the cities across North east coast.

Schools, shops and offices are being closed and I have read that authorities have banned travel on all streets and highways in areas likely to be affected by the blizzard. Buses, ferries and subways services are being suspended but I wonder what happens to places that need personnel 24/7 like police stations, hospitals and fire stations. With such restrictions, how do these places function and how do doctors, paramedical staff and police officers reach their place of work?

To all our friends from that part of the world, I hope you stay safe and warm. Please take all necessary precautions regarding food, fuel and medicines and I hope your power supply is not affected. I am sure this can be pretty terrifying and life threatening especially for the older people.

Are there any members from that area?

Sorry to hear that news. We have a snow warning out for Wednesday and Thursday but hopefully it will be fairly light. I hope that everyone in the North East stays safe

I had never thought about that with the restrictions. They will still have to be manned so I suppose they are told that they have to try to get to their place of work. I do hope they stay safe over there in the US but also people in the UK too as I read yesterday that the snow storm is supposed to hit the UK too.

While I was having dinner tonight, i was watching the news and heard about the blizzard. My sister-in-law, my mother-in-law, and my cousin live in New Jersey. I just hope they stay safe.

We did have a few warnings about impending severe here in England, but they never actually occurred. Hopefully it will be an anti climax for the North American people as well.
