What I've Been Up To

Saturday was productive, but since Sunday I've been somewhat burned out. So I slowed down and didn't write much of anything. I had felt a bit ill Friday night and didn't sleep much. Since it was a stomach problem, I had to watch every thing I ate Saturday. I had no appetite, and didn't even have my breakfast until 3 PM. But while I was waiting to get hungry, I drank water and made kale-tomato soup.
My husband peeled all the quince left from our tree, and I cut it in chunks, along with some apple chunks, a bit of agave, and lots of cinnamon, and put it in the crockpot to soften. It turned out a bit like baked apples already cut in bite-sized pieces, and it was good with walnuts and a dollop of vanilla yogurt on top.
By the time I finished that I was dead tired. I made myself my power breakfast with oatmeal, apples, walnuts, and blueberries, and then collapsed in a chair and started reading a Christian novel, Ezekiel's Shadow, by David Ryan Long. I'd only read a hundred pages before I needed to go to bed.
Sunday I really took it easy and read most of the day. I don't think I wrote more than some comments on a couple of sites. I only got out for short walks Saturday an Sunday.
This morning I started working on my sales tax, but didn't get far. Will have to get back to it after I post this. I also went for a walk around noon, since I wanted to miss the noise of the trash pick-up and investigate a mystery from yesterday. After I walked most of my route and got to the street opposite the park, I found I hadn't completely escaped the trash pick-ups, but I at least got away from the noisy ones. The green waste collection truck didn't make any noise. But I took the photo of it empting the bin into the truck. I got home just in time to see it empty mine.
What did you do this weekend?

Sorry you've been feeling rough. I've had some stomach problems myself. We didn't do a lot this weekend. I did some crafting and Roy worked in the shop.

Barb, you mention quince from a tree. Is it a tree? I once saw a bush with "apples" growing in it. Was that really a small tree? I'd love to grow whatever it is.

I have been fighting a bad cold all weekend. The cough is especially disturbing since it keeps me from sleeping well at night. Glad to see you are feeling better.

Hope all will be well by the time you read this post. Interested to know a bit more about quince. May be a picture?

As you saw from my posts I spent my weekend taking care of my daughter who is having problems with an allergic reaction to medication. Sounds like you eat really healthy foods. That's great to see. I don't eat very healthy but I am trying to keep it as a goal this year to eat healthier. I made scalloped corn for dinner tonight and I hated it. I used to love it I think the difference is that I used reduced fat sour cream instead of regular.

That definitely sounds like a healthy power breakfast! I didn't do too much this weekend, just visited my parents on Sunday like usual. Other than that, just took it easy.

Sorry you were also a bit under the weather. It's not much fun.

It's a small tree. I don't know it they all are small, but ours is lucky to still be alive. It leans so much it looks like it will fall over any day. We do very little for it, but it produces faithfully each year.

A cough does make it hard to sleep. I hate taking cough medicines, but find Vicodin works well for me if I have any around. Hope you are better now.

I will post about my quince since there seems to be some interest.

You might check your ingredient lists on the processed foods you use. I saw a list someone posted on tsu. I think I tweeted the link on one of my Twitter accounts. I thought I was buying healthy foods, and saw that I was still getting some ingredients that could affect our bodies in adverse ways. I'm going to have to be even stricter. Your daughter may be having a reaction to something she's eating. Sometimes these things build up in the system before we start seeing any effects.

I have no more excuses to take it easy. I've got to get my sales tax calculations finished and filed.

I went out to an event over the weekend; there was good food.

I'm afraid I spent way more time relaxing Saturday than I should. Between that and chores, I didn't get nearly as much done online as I should have. Sunday is always a busy, busy day. Today I spent nearly two hours at the dentist, and I haven't been very diligent about getting into working as I should have. Tomorrow is going to be much busier than I'd like it to be, too, with offline chores.

Mine is normal. I have the problem all the time. I'm glad you don't.

Weekend... I was working and was busy the whole Saturday as well as Sunday morning. Sunday afternoon I spent time with my son and his cousins at home. That's a typical weekend for me. Rest is something that I don't have during the weekends.

Sounds like fun.

I really have to get my sales tax finished so I can relax or be ready in case some emergency comes up at the last minute. I've been goofing off too much.

I usually cook for the week on Saturdays and take it a bit easy on Sundays.

I'm sorry you've been a bit under the weather, but hope it passes by quickly. Now you've piqued my interest with the mention of a "mystery," but no further details. Might you fill us in?
BarbRad wrote on January 27, 2015, 12:27 PM
I'll be writing about it when I have time. I hinted at it on tsu with a photo Saturday or Sunday. But it was too late to investigate it then.

Hope you're feeling much better now. And good luck with working on your sales tax.

It was. There wasn't a lot going on at it, but I just wanted to get some fresh air and enjoy a bit of time out with the boyfriend.
Of course, now I am feeling a tad unwell. I'm wondering if I picked up something while there, since it was crowded.
