50 New Posts in 10 Hours

I was just having a quick look through the site and noticed that in the last 10 hours there have only been 50 posts made. It's no wonder I'm running short of profiles/people to check out and posts to read. 50 posts in 10 hours is 5 per hour. That's about one every 12 minutes. As an online writing site I expected more writing - maybe everybody's reading!

After other experiences on similar sites like PersonaPaper I am surprised at how slowly things go. On the one hand that's good, as I don't feel "buried" under the avalanche of posts; on the other hand it means I spend a disproportionate amount of time going through all those I am following to see if they wrote anything recently - and, in the main, many of them haven't posted for 3-4 days or so.

I'm sure things will speed up at PersonaPaper once more people become aware of it - or are there now too many sites and everybody's spread themselves a little thin??

We all have to keep at it , Reading and commenting is the way to go.

Maplewinter wrote on January 26, 2015, 5:17 PM

I wasn't aware of may other sites although I am happy with just PP. I was kinda hoping to reach my $0.5 this morning but it is looking like it will have to wait until tomorrow now. Never mind it would just be good to reach a goal I have set.

Dragonfairy1 wrote on January 26, 2015, 5:19 PM

It is quiet on here compared to other sites I'm on, but I don't think that's necessarily bad as it doesn't have the spam of other sites. But people (including me) do need to post more.

Porcospino wrote on January 26, 2015, 5:28 PM

Sometimes it is hard to find posts to comment on, because there aren't that many new posts. I hope the number of new posts will increase in the future.

nbaquero wrote on January 26, 2015, 5:32 PM

UK_Writer Yes I noticed it has slowed down since the surge at the beginning of the year, I saw there were about 1000 new posts in 3 days and then another 1000 new posts in 4 days, but since then the activity has come down quite a bit. But I think it will improve as more people become aware of this site, but I also believe that taking advantage of the external view, we need to promote this communitiy in social medial networks.

nbaquero wrote on January 26, 2015, 5:33 PM

You are right Porcospino , but I guess we can always look for older posts from our favorite writers to comment on.

nbaquero wrote on January 26, 2015, 5:36 PM

UK_Writer Coincidentally your post has become the No. 22,000 in Persona Paper's history. So this post marks another milestone reached by the community Good Job.
Tagging MaeLou and elitecodex to make them aware.

I try to post once a day and read and comment on about ten per day. I teach sixth grade, so I have to balance this with work. I am on other sites, so I do tend to spread myself out thinly. I'm following quite a few folks, so I have plenty to read. I also try to follow New folks each day.

JeanC wrote on January 26, 2015, 6:00 PM

I am figuring there is going to be an ebb and flow for a while until all us newbies here get up to speed on things, then we should have more steady postings emoticon

valmnz wrote on January 26, 2015, 6:13 PM

Thank you, I shall now go and write the post I've been meaning to write all morning!

Koalemos wrote on January 26, 2015, 7:00 PM

It is a rather slow site at the present, but I am hoping it improves as well.

UK_Writer wrote on January 26, 2015, 7:07 PM

Or watch the telly instead, which is what I've done this evening :)

UK_Writer wrote on January 26, 2015, 7:08 PM

Goals are good, so long as they are reachable - and some days it just feels like hard work :)

UK_Writer wrote on January 26, 2015, 7:08 PM

Yes, there's no spam. Still some poorly constructed English, but no spam.

UK_Writer wrote on January 26, 2015, 7:10 PM

I do promote my posts. Not every one on every social sharing site, but as appropriate, drip feeding them here and there. Twitter, G+ and Pinterest mostly. I've seen no evidence though that any traffic's been gained from this except on one post, for a specific reason. But that was my lot to date.

UK_Writer wrote on January 26, 2015, 7:11 PM

Blimey - cheers for pointing that out. I'd not noticed! The numbering is handy for looking at stats etc.

UK_Writer wrote on January 26, 2015, 7:12 PM

I tend to post 1-2x per day and visit the site and read/comment about 10x a day.

UK_Writer wrote on January 26, 2015, 7:13 PM

I plan to do more/better with social networking, which I only do in a half-hearted way at present. I should pay more attention there, promoting and interacting, to draw traffic in, really.

UK_Writer wrote on January 26, 2015, 7:13 PM

Yeah, you slacker. You write quite a few don't you. At least somebody's bothering to keep me occupied! Cheers

UK_Writer wrote on January 26, 2015, 7:14 PM

A bit more traffic, without being overwhelmed with posts and comments, would be good. A middle ground - and a good tranche of traffic from search engines is what's needed. Imagine if a search engine sent 2 visitors every day to each post one makes, ad infinitum. That'd build to a nice passive income.

valmnz wrote on January 26, 2015, 7:18 PM

Since I'm new here I've decided to try and write 5 a day, to get that bank balance up and running a bit. I'm loving it! At least I'm keeping up with interacting with others here.

valmnz wrote on January 26, 2015, 7:21 PM

Curious as to where you looked to find that statistic - there are still things i haven't discovered yet.

UK_Writer wrote on January 26, 2015, 7:36 PM

Ah, 5/day. I see. I stopped trying to do anything like that when I realised it made my brain empty of all ideas emoticon  Good luck with that!

maxeen wrote on January 26, 2015, 8:28 PM

I am guilty, had very lively visitors for a few days ,worn me out! What about a new rule where everyone has to do two writes a day ? That should sort it out a little..

valmnz wrote on January 26, 2015, 8:42 PM

Don't think I'm going to make it today emoticon  life gets in the way sometimes.

bestwriter wrote on January 26, 2015, 8:45 PM

Other sites are being discussed here in that Persona is a platform for them. Many switch to those sites.

SoundNFury wrote on January 26, 2015, 9:09 PM

I also noticed that late last night, it seems like the activity really plunged. I have noticed that it goes in waves (at least for me.) Hopefully it picks up soon.

MommyCharm wrote on January 26, 2015, 9:39 PM

I have noticed that too. Most members were most likely busy reading and then commenting (since they all know that they get coins with commenting). Oh well, I am guilty of not writing any new article for the past two days since I was occupied with paper works but I'll try to contribute and write at least one article today. Haha!

MaeLou wrote on January 26, 2015, 10:44 PM

If you are following someone, you should be able to tell if they've done anything recently through the "recent activity". I would imagine it would be very time consuming trying to go to everyone's profile.

MaeLou wrote on January 26, 2015, 10:46 PM

Some people, yes. This is subjective on our end. I'm more picky, elitecodex , not so much. Some people are here from before this rule was implemented too, and it seems unfair to kick them out - though, they decide to leave on their own. Usually people who can't write well, don't tend to stick around. Just an observation, though.

zabelle51 wrote on January 26, 2015, 11:51 PM

I have not written anything in a few days. I write on other sites and right now I have been concentrating there but I will try to get back to at lest doing one a day here and doing my normal interaction. :0

Dawnwriter wrote on January 27, 2015, 12:54 AM

Congrats Way to go emoticon  : You just have to look at the url of the post: http://www.personapaper.com/article/22000-50-new-posts-in-10-hours The number after article/ is the post number.

luisga814 wrote on January 27, 2015, 4:21 AM

That is a great news for us here in PersonaPaper, of course more post means more activity.

UK_Writer wrote on January 27, 2015, 6:35 AM

LOL 2/day. That'd leave just 10 people on the site emoticon  One post/day's respectable. I'd not expect more from people - indeed, more than 1-2 per day means nobody's reading them all anyway as there are too many.

UK_Writer wrote on January 27, 2015, 6:35 AM

A certain amount of pick up would be good. I'd not want to be overwhelmed like on "B" where people were posting so much nobody was reading. That was madness.

UK_Writer wrote on January 27, 2015, 6:36 AM

Yes, people get paid to comment, so they are more likely here to comment than to pump out more posts.

UK_Writer wrote on January 27, 2015, 6:37 AM

Yes, I go via all routes: Recent activity and my bookmarks and the Home page. It feels like I must be missing something as there seemed to be so few posts. That was why I checked

UK_Writer wrote on January 27, 2015, 6:38 AM

It is easy to get out of the habit. I think one post every 1-2 days is respectable enough.

UK_Writer wrote on January 27, 2015, 6:38 AM

Well, there's a balance. But I was finding there weren't enough posts to keep me coming back more often - so it'd become easy to get out of the habit.

MsBiz wrote on January 27, 2015, 10:35 AM

I noticed the same thing. I tend to not post as much here as on other sites because of it, too. (I don't want to seem "spammy.")

PegCole17 wrote on January 27, 2015, 10:36 AM

This is good information to know. I'm just figuring out things like that and finding new people to follow by checking out those people I see on my recent activity.

UK_Writer wrote on January 27, 2015, 11:05 AM

Yes, I disliked the way people were trying to post their "10/day" on Bubblews - generating free content for the site, without much reward for themselves as they couldn't have been enjoying it, nor earning much/post, nor could their followers ever keep up with the prolific posting!

MsBiz wrote on January 27, 2015, 11:14 AM

That was one of the most off-putting things about that place: it was quantity over quality. I tried to meet my 10 post limit in the beginning then realized that was ridiculous.

Kasman wrote on January 27, 2015, 2:24 PM

UK_Writer - you may not know it but I keep stats on the number of posts and active members on Persona Paper and the situation is even worse than you think! Over the past five days there have been 420 posts published. That's an average of 84 per day - just three weeks ago it was averaging nearly 200 per day. But it's even worse that that! Persona Paper currently has 1262 active members and an average of 84 posts per day is 0.066561 posts per member per day - a dismal amount especially since we are each allowed 15 posts per day! A post on the current stats of Persona Paper will appear in the next couple of weeks. If you are interested you can read my last stats report here: http://goo.gl/5JIe87

Waiting for that updated report kasman . I am sure will have a lot of key information to see where we stand, and where we need to focus to continue growing (at a faster pace).

Which is why MaeLou does all the new account confirmations now :)
