How Long Does it Take To Make Your First $1 at Persona Paper?

Today I reached that first milestone on PersonaPaper and I've made my first $1. I've made a lot of money online over the years, but every new site works differently, so I was interested to watch how the stats worked. Earlier today I made that first $1 here. Probably the hardest earnt $1 I've made for years!

I wrote 17 articles, read/commented on a lot of stuff, spent time reading profiles and following people... and I shared my posts across a few social networks (where I have scant and disinterested readers). I had 664 coins at the $1 point. For those who can do the maths, it's simple to work out the potential CPM to achieve 664 coins and $1 if you just wanted to write/run and promote.... for those that can't work it out it's about $3. For those that have no idea what CPM means, never mind, it's dull stuff.... which, simply means if 1000 people viewed/read your articles then you'd earn $3.

But I got there. That first $1. If you give up before your first $1 on any site, you've not tried, that's a fact. It's only once you've got that far that you can begin to understand how a site works and if it's the one for you.

So I thought I'd let you all know I got there :) Only another $19 to go now!

This is one of those 'how long is a piece of string?' questions. Everyone uses Persona Paper in different ways. I tend to read and comment more than post and, as we all know, commenting on others' posts is the way to do it on this site.

I have been testing the waters but have made a choice to go for it. so I will let you know. lol

UK_Writer wrote on January 24, 2015, 5:36 PM

Yes, it makes an instant and positive increment in the bank, which is lovely to see.

UK_Writer wrote on January 24, 2015, 5:37 PM

It's better to test it for yourself and choose, than to read/believe what others say and simply choose based on that. I like to make my own mistakes - and try not to miss the boat because I listened to others :)

the first dollar took me ages before the increase in the exchange rate but now it is much faster and I am more motivated.

SoundNFury wrote on January 24, 2015, 5:39 PM

I think it took me about a week or so to get to that first dollar. Of course, it really just depends on how much you work at it and how many articles you write. I did about 2 or 3 per day, which isn't that much.

valmnz wrote on January 24, 2015, 5:52 PM

Thanks for that. I was considering writing a post asking that very question, so this is not only useful, but motivating for me to keep going.

UK_Writer wrote on January 24, 2015, 5:52 PM

When the PersonaPaper exchange rate goes up I can see it would be motivating - the trouble is, what happens if/when it goes down? Then it won't feel so good will it. Seeing the exchange rate at the top there makes me think that every day.

UK_Writer wrote on January 24, 2015, 5:54 PM

Yes, it depends on a lot of things. It's taken me 9 days. 9 days ... 9 ... daaaays!!!! I used to get $8/post on the "B" site :)

UK_Writer wrote on January 24, 2015, 5:55 PM

I think the process of reaching your first $1 on any site's partly about getting familiarised - but also learning new skills. e.g. doing a bit more with social sharing for example (a particularly scarey prospect for me, I dislike it).

Koalemos wrote on January 24, 2015, 6:12 PM

I have submitted 42 articles so far, but my earnings are presently $1.40. Of course there is far more than just writing articles, but it is a slow earning site all the same.

valmnz wrote on January 24, 2015, 6:14 PM

I confess, I haven't done as much socialising as I should, but I've made up my mind to get going here and give it a really good try.

chrisandmark wrote on January 24, 2015, 6:46 PM

I only have 8 cents to date haha emoticon

Soonerdad3 wrote on January 24, 2015, 7:04 PM

I reached the $1 milestone yesterday and I read/comment more than I have posted.

bestwriter wrote on January 24, 2015, 7:17 PM

I have not kept a tab on as to when I reached my first dollar. Anyway my bank is happy at the moment emoticon  I just participate and enjoy this place and coins get loaded.

Wow! that is a long hard earned dollar but i understand , its very hard to earn on here or just about anywhere its getting much harder to earn.

DWDavisRSL wrote on January 24, 2015, 9:28 PM

Hurrah on making that first dollar. I am closing in on my second dollar soon, and may hit it tonight. The sites membership keeps growing and as it does, I anticipate the amount of time it takes to earn each additional dollar should decrease.

MommyCharm wrote on January 24, 2015, 10:29 PM

Congratulations! I am still some 50 cents short from my first dollar and I know, I'll get there soon.

scheng1 wrote on January 24, 2015, 11:25 PM

When I joined PP, that was before the rate increment. I reached the first 1000 coins in my first week, and that was a dollar. At the rate today, it would be $1.50.

Dawnwriter wrote on January 25, 2015, 3:44 AM

Everyone gets there at his or her own pace but a) the first dollar takes longest to get and b) the more you interact, the quicker you reach this milestone. Good luck and I hope you get the rest at a much quicker pace.

UK_Writer wrote on January 25, 2015, 4:09 AM

It is - I am hoping it'll build into a crescendo - so it speeds up. That's what we all want I think, so we can see evidence that what we read/say/think "matters"

UK_Writer wrote on January 25, 2015, 4:10 AM

You'll get there! Just focus on getting to that first $1 come hell or high water.

UK_Writer wrote on January 25, 2015, 4:10 AM

Well done, it's a nice feeling - although we all hope the second one comes faster.

UK_Writer wrote on January 25, 2015, 4:11 AM

A good policy. For me, however, any site has to fit into the category of "income" in some way, I have to live from my online earnings somehow.

UK_Writer wrote on January 25, 2015, 4:12 AM

Yes, it's long overdue for a Plan B really. So much effort without much real reward aspect to it.... but while a bit's coming in, it seems better than $0. Then you get addicted

UK_Writer wrote on January 25, 2015, 4:13 AM

Yes, site membership is low, which doesn't help. On the other hand, it's not so busy that things are manic and what we write becomes buried in a pile of tosh.

UK_Writer wrote on January 25, 2015, 4:13 AM

Yes, everything comes to he who waits - as the saying goes. It does take backbone and perseverance to not quit before that first $1

UK_Writer wrote on January 25, 2015, 4:14 AM

Oh it's sad that the rate's dropped. It must be annoying for those who have dollars almost ready when the rate drops.

bestwriter wrote on January 25, 2015, 4:14 AM

This is a new site and we have to be in it together for it to be viable - the more we participate the more will the site be able to established itself at a higher level and when this happens I am sure the rates will go up.

UK_Writer wrote on January 25, 2015, 4:15 AM

Thank you. although there are two ways to reach the goal. [1] Interact [2] promote stuff to a wider audience and hope to hit something viral once a week :)

Koalemos wrote on January 25, 2015, 6:38 AM

Considering that it will require over 13000 coins, it will be a long journey.

Soonerdad3 wrote on January 25, 2015, 8:28 AM

Thanks and yes I definitely hope the second dollar comes much quicker.

Maplewinter wrote on January 25, 2015, 11:23 AM

Yey! Congratulations on getting there! I am going slow at the moment but I am aiming to earn at least 10 coins per day. Currently I have 213 coins which is equating to $0.32 That may mean reading lots of articles and making lots of new connections but that is what is needed to increase your earnings on this site. Once you have a wider reach then the number of coins made each day will increase.

mrsmerlin wrote on January 25, 2015, 2:49 PM

I don't know how long it took me because I didn't check. Not being blasé about that it's just that it never crossed my mind. Its also important to remember that when you start at a new site you have way less followers liking and commenting on your work and you have to build that back up again. I remember looking at the income details from this site and deciding that I prefer being promised less than being promised a fortune and then having it taken away. I by far prefer the honesty

Colibry21 wrote on January 25, 2015, 3:24 PM

I reached it in the last day or two. It took me a couple of weeks to reach my first dollar. I would imagine that it varies from person to person.

UK_Writer wrote on January 25, 2015, 4:40 PM

I wish you luck with maintaining and exceeding your goal!

UK_Writer wrote on January 25, 2015, 4:41 PM

Yes, few followers, starting from 0. But it's a slow site too. Not many posts, not many people! It'll get bigger soon no doubt.

UK_Writer wrote on January 25, 2015, 4:42 PM

Yes - many variables involved. If I were Justin Bieber I would just have to create my post then share it to my twitter and I'd be loaded :)

Deelark wrote on January 28, 2015, 10:35 PM

I have just joined here so this was interesting for me to read.

UK_Writer wrote on January 29, 2015, 4:28 AM

Welcome. It's slow, not many people, but that might change, who knows!
