Booked Another Role on Blue Bloods
Even though this time of year is relatively slow for background actors, there are still shows and movies in the middle of production. Last year in October I had a background role on Blue Bloods, and I just learned that I will be back on the show this coming Monday. I will be portraying a neighborhood passerby. The only downside is that this will be exterior shots, and it's going to be COLD on Monday! I've been trying to avoid submitting for exterior scenes during cold weather, but it's kind of slim pickings for jobs right now so I just went for it.
I will need to carefully layer my clothing and wear extra socks. The crew on Blue Bloods is awesome though, and they will be attentive to our needs, as much as possible anyway. Shooting exterior scenes often means standing outside in the cold for hours, and there's no a whole lot they can do. We are often given hand and foot warmers, and of course we will have a warm holding location to warm up between shots. It all depends on the scene, the location, etc., as to how long we'll have to be out in the cold.
I'll let you know on Tuesday how it went --- assuming I don't have frostbite and can still type. LOL ;)

How cool is that? I didn't realize there was an actress who wrote for PP. My husband and I became hooked on Blue Bloods on Netflix and are working our way through the seasons, each night one or two episodes. Hope it goes well for you. You'll have to tell us more about this experience.

Funny because I really never watched Blue Bloods, only maybe a few shows. I will have to find out which episode this will be. You can see me a lot in Orange is the New Black, especially Season 2 :)

Have fun and stay warm. It is good to hear the folk behind the show are considerate to the extras. I don't watch Blue Bloods, but we did start Orange is the New Black and need to get back to watching that, still on season one tho, but it is a great show.

amyk49 Thats pretty cool. I would be happy being an extra sometimes. But I don't know the first step on doing that. I think you need to belong to SAG if I'm correct. Good luck with the scene and hopefully you won't be in the cold too long.

Break a leg on the set of the Blue Bloods episode. I've not seen the show as the missus doesn't care for police dramas but I've heard it's a great show.

Wow. Who cares if its cold! Do you realize how many people would love to be in your shoes. Must be fun or boring having to stand around waiting for set ups?
