Not As I Planned

So I have spent this morning completing another of my Greek Lessons that I downloaded. I know this was not what I had planned to do this morning but as it was so dark and dismal I thought I would complete a lesson and then do some paper cutting.

The lessons work by giving you an audio recording full of the information as well as a PDF with some extra facts. The recordings are usually about 5 minutes long but this was a super long one at 14 minutes. It takes me a lot more than 14 minutes though as I keep stopping it and taking notes. So it took me a couple of hours to get through a lesson

This lesson was all about the food culture in Greece and the top five foods as well as the top five foods for the brave. It talked a lot about the food which I ate in while in Zante in October last year. It has also given me the craving for a chicken Gýros. Gýros which is pronounced he-ros is a chicken kebab filled with marinated chicken, salad and tzatiki. They are my favourite Greek dish.

So now its time for me to switch off the laptop and have some lunch. I think I am going to have some toast with jam on. I know its a long way from a chicken Gýros but I am going to have to wait till July for one of those. Then after lunch I think I will do some paper cutting now it has brightened up a little.

Just a quick mention. The photo is of a little place known as Shipwreck Cove on the island of Zante. It is on the north of the island and the only way to visit the little bay is by boat. It is called Shipwreck Cove because on the beach there is a shipwreck which you can have a look around. I never got to visit it this time but in July we have talked about hiring a boat and going to visit it or maybe take one of the many tours to go and see it.

What are you all having for lunch?

Bye for now.

I had a sausage roll for lunch today. It's freezing cold outside, although the frost has cleared now... so I wanted something warming and easy :)

I tried quite a few different Greek dishes while in Kos a couple of years ago, but cannot remember any of the names.

I haven't decided on lunch yet. It's still pretty cold today although the sun is shining brightly, so I may heat up some of the turkey noodle soup I made yesterday.

That sounds really yummy! I bet its really warming too. I like turkey but my hubby doesn't so we never eat it.

I love the food in Greece. I am sure I had put on at least 2 stone when I came back from Zante.

I can't eat sausage rolls any more because of the gluten in them but I really used to love them. I used to work for Greggs the bakers and they were always best straight out of the oven.

I like turkey fresh out of the oven, but then I divide the leftover into individual recipe packets and freeze them. They don't taste good to me then, but I found that adding just a little lemon juice or fresh lemon zest at the end of the cook time makes my soup taste like chicken. Takes that frozen turkey taste out. I'm just now learning that after nearly 60 years of cooking.

That is gorgeous picture that looks like a place I would like to visit someday.
