One of the massive downsides of cycling to work and back every day is when it is cold and wet, and boy was it a cold ride home in the rain tonight. Monday and Tuesday this week were super cold days, but as they were dry the twenty mile round trip was very pleasant once I had warmed up. As you may have already read this mornings cycle was eventful due the cattle grid incident but it was a pretty decent ride. Then you come to tonight, it was one of those rides that makes you question why in the world you cycle 100 miles a week. It was cold, the rain just kept coming and I kept getting dazed by the lights from the oncoming bikes. Thankfully days like this are fairly rare, mind there have been a fair few wet rides over the last few weeks and I do really enjoy riding rather than driving to work, it's just no fun when you are cold and wet lol. Here's hoping for a nice dry day tomorrow.
My first job was 6 miles away - and I cycled there each day on an old fashioned ladies bike with the stereotypical wicker basket at the front and the 3-lever Sturmey Archer gears (think 1950s midwife style bike). As soon as I could I got a bank loan for a moped, so within 6 months I wasn't doing that any more!

I hope you took a nice warm shower when you got home! Glad to hear it's a rare occurrence for the cold rain, wish I could say that for here!
