Deleting personal posts is hard

When I joined in December 2012 I never expected to write about my life, but I soon found I was using that site to let off steam about some of my problems.

It all came to a head in September 2014 when my Dad died unexpectedly after "successful" surgery. Some of my Bubblews friends were a real comfort to me in those dark days.

After a series of non-payments, I've started deleting my posts from Bubblews and last night I decided to remove some of those personal ones, but not without rereading and saving the best comments first. Doing so brought back some really bad memories, but it also reminded me of how good things used to be at Bubblews and added to my sense of loss.

I hated deleting those posts, but why should Bubblews go on earning from them if I'll never see a cent of it?

You will need an account to comment - feel free to register or login.

I agree that you should delete them, but also that it is hard, I'm glad you thought to save them. You will find that this community is wonderfully supportive!

It is good therapy to be able to write about your problems online.Much like talking to a good friend.

Will bubblews ever earn a cent from them though? Most of the stuff on there isnĀ“t evergreen content more like social interaction with pay and very few older posts are ever seen I suspect. I am so very sorry for your loss, coming suddenly as it did must have been such a horrible shock.

I've been saving all my posts from every site for a long time - ever since I needed to edit something at Bubblews and couldn't find it. But I wanted to save some of the comments too. Unfortunately one of my friends had her account deleted recently after complaining about non-payment once too often, so her comments are lost.

I know that this site is supportive, with lots of real interactions. I wish all my friends would come here, but some have chosen CGP, where interaction doesn't work nearly as well.

I've noticed that. It's really useful because my good friends have all emigrated so I don't have too many people to discuss my problems with in the real world.

Thanks Hollyhocks100 .

I'm never sure what Bubblews are earning money from as I sometimes get notifications of comments and likes on the most unlikely posts. Some of my content was intended to be evergreen though and I plan to reuse some posts, though probably not the personal ones. The only posts I plan to leave there are the ones that are about Bubblews.

save the posts to a folder for yourself and repost them to other sites at a later date rather than just deleting them forever

Gina145 wrote on January 20, 2015, 6:57 AM

I saved all the posts as I wrote them. I'll reuse some of my posts, but I'm not likely to use the personal ones, because most of them are out of date now.

So sorry about your loss. Glad that you saved the posts to keep, but I agree tat deleting them from bubblews is the right ting to do.

Gina145 wrote on January 20, 2015, 9:53 AM

Thanks wolfgirl569 . It was really hard. What really annoys me is that I didn't even get paid for some of those posts, though I'm still fighting Bubblews over them.

I filed a complaint with the B.B.B. but dont expect to much to come from it.

This is where my personal blog has come in handy. I've been able to keep good personal memories there. I used Bubblews for my escape to right about anything that wasn't totally important.

I remember you going through that hard phase and sorry that you had to relive some of those memories. I hope you find the same level of support here, if not better.

Gina145 wrote on January 20, 2015, 1:14 PM

I filed a complaint with them too. I got a response asking for my username and the email address I used. That was yesterday, so I don't know what the outcome will be.

Gina145 wrote on January 20, 2015, 1:16 PM

I'm not brave enough to start a blog. I wouldn't know how to go about it, and I don't know how I'd get readers. Maybe one day when my life is more settled I'll look into it, but for now I'm struggling to cope with what I'm already doing.

I'm sure I'll find a lot of support here, and I won't have to fight through the spam to see it :)

You're right, for the real deep, personal, posts, it's like a stab through the heart to have been treated so shabbily by that site. It feels like a betrayal of the person/situation you were writing about.

Gina145 wrote on January 20, 2015, 7:19 PM

I'm glad some people understand that. Some of those who are still writing at Bubblews seem to think that the site can do no wrong.

mrsmerlin wrote on January 21, 2015, 4:34 PM

That has been one of my major groans and I have been slated more than once for removing posts, but there is no way I am going to let them steal money earned through posts about my family. When you re-read them it does bring back a rush of memories but I think I am suitably over the site now

Gina145 wrote on January 21, 2015, 6:01 PM

We wrote the posts and retain the copyright, so I don't see why anyone should slate us for removing them, whether we've been paid for them or not. It's not like Bubblews bought the posts from us. I didn't even get paid for the traffic on some of those posts and it's unlikely I ever will.

The only posts I'm planning to leave there are ones that are specifically about the Bubblews site and my attempts to help them get rid of the cheats. And if, by the time I've removed the rest, they're not happy with what's left, they can delete my account.

Wow, I did not think of doing this. I really should, seeing that I have quite a few personal posts on there. I actually do not do that anymore, so i need to go and delete my posts NOW...thanks!!!
