Seeing The Endocrinologist Doctor - 20 Weeks Pregnant
What a busy week I've got ahead of me .
Today I had the first of two hospital appointments .
Royal Preston Hospital really needs to think about getting a multi storey car park , because there's never enough parking spaces at any given time of the day . We were really lucky to find the last disabled parking bay outside the maternity unit .
My appointment with the Endocrinologist doctor ( thyroid specialist ) was 9:40 this morning .
I had no idea what the appointment entailed and felt anxious and uncomfortable waiting to be called .

I had my weight taken by a nurse , before I was seen , she wrote it on a piece of paper for me , so I could check online with a kg to stones converter .
I knew I hadn't put on very much - 6.5 lbs . I'm 20 weeks , half way , so I'm very happy with that . It's a small gain and googeling health guidlines and averages , I'm doing very well .
The endocrinologist doctor , was a nice man , slim , late 30's early fourties , he had good news for me .
After studying my thyroid levels , he deduced that the level of thyroxine I'm currently taking - 125mg , is the correct dose , pregnancy and pre-pregnancy .
Apart from a wobble in September , right at the very beginning of my pregnancy - my thyroid levels have been stable .
So there's no further action to be taken , no more constant blood checks , unless my gp requests them . The doctor told me baby will be making there own thyroxine by 26 weeks , so I've nothing to worry about , everything so far is going really well for me .
Tomorrow morning I have my 20 week annomally scan .
I am nervous , but I know babys happy , kicking away inside me , I can feel the movements and have heard them and the heart beat with my Angel sounds doppler - the best thing I have ever bought in my life ! .
My partner , babys daddy , is a week away from his second hip replacement ( he's only 37 ! ) , so fingers crossed for everything tomorrow .
Were setting off extra early , to ensure we can find a parking space , or it's going to be an agonishing treck from the local booths supermarket , with Simon on crutches .

Always reassuring to have baby kicking away happily - and even better if you can hear the heart beat!
