When to contact Persona Paper regarding possible rules violations?

OK, it has only happened a few times and I just passed it by, didn't comment or report, but when do we contact Persona Paper regarding possible rule violations with the "coherent English" part of the rules? The reason I ask is that there were many on that other site I won't mention that you just could not understand what they were saying at all, I have come across a few on here where they were difficult to understand and I did not know how something like that should be handled.

I know they make it clear they want "coherent English" but when is the apparent broken English a problem and crossing the line? I know many that do a good job, but there have been a few where I walked away from the post not really understanding it.

They've been clear saying they want us to report any problems, but is this one that falls into that category or is it something that should just be left alone? I don't want the site to get a lot of people coming down on others grammar and such but I also don't want outsiders to look upon the site badly if they come across one of these very poorly written posts.

So is there a point we should contact Persona Paper about a post or should we just leave it alone?

God forbid it becomes like bubblews on here. I saw a post i was suspicious about this morning and wondered if it had been plagiarized, but didn´t know what to do about it either.

I think if you question whether or not to report it you should report it and let the admins determine if it is in violation. If not, no harm done. If so, you've done your job helping protect the integrity of the site.

How do you report a post? I don't see any flag it buttons and am still new to the site.

MaeLou wrote on January 19, 2015, 11:17 AM

If in doubt, just use the contact us link at the top, or I have an email contact link on my profile page.

I am going through some posts, and there are some that I have currently "flagged" as Incoherent English and their account has been suspended but have not actually deleted the account yet.

The problem is the "coherent English" is different for everyone. If it is clearly not able to be comprehended, go ahead and report it.

Thanks MaeLou I always wondered what the point was as to when to report. I figured that you guys were checking posts also, but I was just wondering if we came across anything if we should report or just let you guys find it, now I know. Thanks!

Oh I know, I came across many posts on there where I would walk away scratching my head, not because I didn't get their point, I didn't understand their post.

Kat- wrote on January 19, 2015, 11:26 AM

Yes, good idea. I haven't come across many since I've been here, very few, but wasn't sure how to handle it.

Kat- wrote on January 19, 2015, 11:29 AM

lionpaw , just use the contact us link and copy the link of the post. They just added where we can flag comments, I think if the need arises they will add it where we can flag posts.

I think you just have "contact" button on top of your persona webpage. But I guess persona is doing something on those cases, because If I am not mistaken they review all our post before they pay us. That is the rule that I have read when I first joined persona. God bless.

So far I haven't come across any of this but if it's really difficult to understand it at all and would be for anyone else I would probably go ahead and report it

MaeLou wrote on January 19, 2015, 2:20 PM

Yes, that is true, but if we can get rid of problems right away, then we can prevent bigger ones from developing.

Incoherent English is often a sign of a spun article. Any doubt about any aspect of a post (language, content, subject, etc.) should be reported to admin and let them sort it out. We must all be vigilant in our efforts to keep Persona Paper a 'clean' site.

lionpaw wrote on January 19, 2015, 4:30 PM

Alright! Thank you for answering. I have seen a post or two that I think doesn't fit the rules and had no idea how to share that information with the people who run the site. I'm use to the "flag this post" I have seen on another site!

Kat- wrote on January 19, 2015, 4:47 PM

Yes, I know they check, but if there is suspect material it would be best to get it off the site and keep it clean.

Kat- wrote on January 19, 2015, 4:49 PM

Thanks. I haven't come across many, but I remember how bad some of it got on the other site and don't want to see that here so I figured I would ask. emoticon

Kat- wrote on January 19, 2015, 4:50 PM

I agree we need to be vigilant, I just didn't want to start sending in suspect things if that's not what they wanted, but I know now, so if I come across any that seem bad, I will send it in and let them decide. I never thought that it could be spun, I guess we have to watch out for that too.

MelissaE wrote on January 19, 2015, 5:32 PM

Just a moment ago, I read a comment on my profile that was incoherent and a bit sketchy...he/she wanted to contact me on Facebook.

Soonerdad3 wrote on January 19, 2015, 7:59 PM

That is a good question, I have not really come across any posts that I would say are incoherent, but I am glad to see MaeLou responded already.

Kat- wrote on January 20, 2015, 6:51 AM

That's one you definitely want to flag and they will check it out.

Kat- wrote on January 20, 2015, 6:53 AM

Yes, as I've said, I haven't seen many, but enough to inspire me to ask the question before there gets to be a lot of them on the site and possibly deters visitors from returning.

arthurchappell wrote on January 20, 2015, 7:01 AM

I wouldn't report anyone over the slightest typo but a post that is totally incoherent and unreadable might need attention

Kat- wrote on January 20, 2015, 7:49 AM

Yes, it's the incoherent and unreadable I was talking about, I would never even think about reporting for typo's, everyone makes them.

Koalemos wrote on January 20, 2015, 8:07 AM

This is always likely to be a grey area because it can be difficult to differentiate at times. If I encounter a post in poor or broken English then I assume that the writer is using English as a second language, which is perfectly understandable. However, blatantly illogical construction of sentences and misuse of words often suggests that the material has been put through an online translator and plagiarised from a foreign source.
The problem is discerning the difference in many borderline cases, which is always likely to be a problem.

Kat- wrote on January 20, 2015, 8:41 AM

That is true. Most of the time I can get the gist of what someone is saying and I've always put this as English is a second language to them. There are times I just could not understand a post and I guess it could have been something that was spun and not just poor English. Either way, if I have trouble understanding a post, I will notify the powers that be to take a look at it.

valmnz wrote on January 20, 2015, 12:38 PM

As you say, we don't want the Bubblews problems following us here. Good to see the MaeLou has commented below.

Kat- wrote on January 20, 2015, 3:23 PM

Yes, it's great to see the owners of the site so active throughout the whole site instead of just posts they make. Love it here!

zabelle51 wrote on January 21, 2015, 10:51 PM

So far I have not seen much that was questionable but I am always vigilant about plagiarists especially. :)

Kat- wrote on January 22, 2015, 7:04 AM

Yes, you always have to keep an eye out for them.
