New Podcast, Today!!!

Our last podcast was in December before the holidays, so there is a lot of catch up to do.

There are so many things going on in all of our lives and I'm sure after a smattering of personal events, we will dive headlong into the world as we see it and consume it.

There are a few religious themed subjects with Duke University (a private research university which is founded in the Methoduist tradition) allowing a weekly Friday call to prayer from its chapel bell tower, then nixing the idea after Christian groups including Franklin Graham went on the offensive against Duke.

The church in Colorado who stopped a woman's funeral after an hour long viewing and 15 minutes into the service because the family's memorial video included pictures of her kissing her wife. The family then had to move the service including mourners, flowers and the body in the casket across the street to a mortuary to conduct the service.

The Pope spoke on freedom of speech in regards to the the massacre at Charlie Hebdo after so-called controversial cartoons of Muhammed have been printed.

Aside from the supernatural, there is President Obama's State of the Union address with the Republican response coming from new Senator Joni Ernst of Iowa. She ran campaign ads about castrating hogs.

The new free community college initiative proposed by the President is not without huge flaws.

And now we dance!!!

Sounds like you have a lot to talk about! Pretty packed show, it seems. Congrats on getting it done.

Thanks! We need to get back on a set schedule, but each of our lives are rather fluid in schedule from day to day with exception to my dog walking. We walk by 4am in the morning every day of the week.

I'd seen most of these headlines lately. I'm going to have to check out your all's discussion on them. Didn't realize the call to prayer idea had been nixed, though.

In a tsunami of hate it was buried. If you read comments by Franklin Graham and other groups, it is sickening.

Duke has a tradition of religious inclusion, but broadcasting the call to prayer for Muslims one day a week at 1pm for three minutes is just too much for some Christian supremacists to abide.

I've finally begun listening to this one - I'm going to have to take it in pieces, though. Two hours is a LOT of discussion!

Christianity -- that is the true teachings of Christianity -- need to follow, not the teachings of an institution or of a man, but the inspired word.
