18 Degrees Warm
It is positive eighteen degrees Fahrenheit outside. That's right! In the interior of Alaska in the middle of January I can touch metal outside without feeling like my hand is on fire. That's is, by the way, what if feels like when you touch metal at negative forty degrees.
I don't know why it has been so warm outside this year, but I am quite happy that it is. It's easier to function in the winter here when it isn't quite as cold. The small batch of negative thirty weather was quite unpleasant. I'm ready for winter to end as I always am at about this time of year when I'm living in Alaska, but I'm also excited that it hasn't gotten too bad yet. Of course, it could still turn horrible. Often January and February are the coldest months.
