Does your fruit bowl have any actual fruit in it?

I am ashamed to say that there is only one item of fruit in my fruit bowl - a dried up lemon. I bought it weeks ago with some culinary intention in mind but somehow never got round to using it.

Apart from that my fruit bowl currently contains the following:

1 letter from Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council on 'Important Changes to your Recycling Service'

1 Lifetime Feline Healthcare & Vaccination Record

1 pack of M&Ms

6 pens

2 x 5 pence pieces

1 packet of Naproxen 250mg tablets

1 battery

1 credit card statement

Don't get me wrong, we are not a fruit-phobic family. We always have raspberries or fresh pineapple in the fridge. I'm just not a huge fan of the sort of fruit you put in a fruit bowl.

Like you our fruit bowl is a handy place to keep those things for which we don't have any other suitable location. I keep my car keys in ours!

Sadly our fruitbowl is the same as yours, full of junk items that we may need haha. We do have lots of fruit in the fridge though :)

I just do not have a fruit bowl. But I do have apples and bananas in the fridge and strawberries in the freezer

Ha ha that made me laugh! Yes our fruit bowl is currently overflowing as we are trying to find plenty of things to suit everyone - getting 4 people to achieve '5 a day' when they all like different things is a bit of a challenge!

Don't your bananas go black if you keep them in the fridge?

wolfgirl569 wrote on January 14, 2015, 7:36 PM

It slows them down I think and they dont last long normally anyways here

I don't keep a fruit bowl anymore, because we didn't really keep fruit in ours either. It just collected oddball stuff that nobody really knew what to do with...

My fruit bowl is packed away. It will come out nearer summer time. Good post though!

Oh funny! My fruit bowl has two grapefruit from Bodiemor 's trees. Never sprayed, sun ripened, the best!

lol This cracked me up because mine is pretty much the same. I do have a few pieces of fruit but right now they are not in the fruit bowl. :)

Haha I don't even have a fruit bowl but currently there are avocadoes and cherry tomatoes in the fridge!

we never had a fruit bowl. We had bread basket and usually have a loaf of bread there

I don't think that I've ever owned a fruit bowl. The fruit that comes in either goes into the fridge, or it gets set on the counter. Either way, it disappears quite quickly-- often before I even have a chance to enjoy any of it.

Ha Ha! I have to say at present time we actually DO have apples in our fruit bowl. My husband and I enjoy fresh fruit...or as fresh as we can get it, living in WV in the winter months.

We have a fruit basket, the wire-coated-in-white-plastic kind... In it are grapefruit, oranges and lemons that that we mean to eat but don't, and bananas, which we put in our smoothies. Somehow we have also managed to dump boxes of organic raisins and gluten-free crackers in there, too. It's always over-flowing and messy-looking...

We have bananas in ours but that's it the rest of our fruit is kept in the fridge.

We have a fruit bowl containing apples, pears, oranges, bananas and 1 lime left over from key lime pie, in the fridge we have pineapple and grapes.

Our fruit bowl is a actually a silver tray that I picked up at the thrift store for an amazing two dollars, but yes, it does have a bunch of bananas in it. We keep other fruit chilled in the fridge. I do have a few other random things in it beside the 'naners, though, like cereal box tops that we save for school, and some paper clips, probably.

We're posh, we have two fruit bowls ;) Both have fruit in at present but they will need replenishing soon.

My fruit bowl is currently stashed away in the cupboard, LOL! I don't have a lot of counter space, so it's one of the first things to end up getting tucked away - no matter how much fruit we have in the house. We are much more a vegetable family, though. Or like you, we eat fruits that we wouldn't necessarily keep in the bowl.

This cracked me up! Friday is a food shopping day for me--so today my fruit bowl is a bit empty as well!

It's summer here in New Zealand and we currently have plums, peaches and apricots on our fruit bowl.
