When Your Online Earnings Are Lower Than Your Expenses

Life as a freelancer is not a simple one. Though there are many sites available online the pay rates are not that high enough to match up the amount reflected in the bills. The electricity bills and internet bills are bound to occur, if you want to earn online. Plus the other site crashed a lot of hopes. Many who were expecting their payments got none and now arises the question what to do in such a case.

What would you probably do in case your online earnings are lower than your expenses. You probably have to swallow your ego and take to borrow money from your parents or friends for the time being. Its better than going for a debt proposal of any financial institution where you have to face interest charges.

So what would you do in such a case?

look for a real job, not virtual, get a job that pays you well enough to cover up your expenses

My monthly internet bill is around $40 plus the electric bill of at least $30 per month. My online income is really way below my bills but at least it can contribute. I have sacrificed some of my budget for food to cover the said bills.

This is exactly why I have a dayjob as well as a so-called freelance career. Writing does not pay the bills, it merely props up my eBay earnings made from selling off my clutter, which come much closer to being able to actually pay bills on a good month.

I was in that boat for a few months when I started out as a full-time freelancer. That was almost 9 years ago. Fortunately, I had enough in savings to cover my expenses until the work picked up.

During that time, I also reassess my business model. I was picking up a lot of low-paying gigs because I was a new writer and devalued my services. That said, I knew I had to credentials and skills to succeed, so I stuck with it.

I had extra money in savings, I would've went out and found another job tell my writing more became self-sustaining.

I think online writing is the same as any other business. You have to be financially prepared to take a loss when you start out and have a solid plan to bring in money.

Personally I would look for a more regular paid job OR make a budget plan to make your money stretch further, cut back on things you don't need.

Even with my computer on all the time every day and Internet I am paying for, it is a small price to pay over everything else.

If you got some stock you may be very surprised at what you would make doing car-boot sales or whatever your area call them..

Well, unless I get really really lucky, once the weather warms up I'll probably have to go find a real job. I was hoping to avoid that.

Electricity and internet bills are not expenses of freelance writing - unless you would genuinely turn both off if you stopped writing. People will have both expenses if they were not writing - with only a tiny proportion of either being a valid "expense"

That's the reason why I became inactive. In the Philippines, we have SmartFreeInternet . I used SMART Mobile Internet since 2012 because my Nokia cellphone was Smart locked. Would you believe I was online all day but I only spent 0.00 to 0.10 dollars. Desktop internet subscription is quite higher than mobile. Now you know one reason why I am always on mobile ^_^ sad to say my old Nokia died. Now I am using an iPhone, different network provider which does not offer FREE mb but only Facebook. I can't go online for a long time like before because of "GLOBE" higher internet cost. I hope someone would send me a new android cellphone for "SMART network" on Valentine's Day. Hahaha!
