Speaking Up for Good People; Drs Elizabeth Gohl and Ben Burris
COMMENTARY | Let's be honest , I know others have sometimes found me offensive for saying some of the things I do. But, the things I say are important to me, whether someone agrees with me at the time, or not. Sometimes, though, I find a topic which I'm fairly sure even my staunchest of opponents will be willing to join me on.
I think the story of Drs. Elizabeth Gohl and Ben Burris, of Arkansas, is just one example. Think of me whatever you will, THIS story will stick in your gizzard.
I was doing my usual search for something worth promoting, just coasting along, trusting the lead of my Guides and Guardians when I came across and advertisement on YouTube from the Institute for Justice, telling the story of two Arkansas dentists in trouble for – get this – charging too little .
If I had dentures, I'd have spit them out in shock. These two are actually IN TROUBLE for HELPING THE POOR!
Only in America.
Can there be a position, for any individual, within the American political spectrum who would find these two in error for this? Can any Democrat tell me they're wrong for helping the poor? Can any Republican tell me they're wrong for doing as they wish with their own business? I already know where the Libertarians and Independents would stand on this issue. Will my Socialist friends find these two at fault? Seriously, bring me the Communist whose heart doesn't go out to these two. I can think of nobody other than a bought-and-paid-for bureaucrat who could pursue charges against these two for the crime of compassion.
This is a case of cowardly protectionism and nothing more. Shame on the whiny, uncompetetive slob pseudo-doctor who feels they're right to use gun-backed government force to try shutting down a medical practice because they feel they're losing money by someone else helping people who couldn't afford said services otherwise.
I'm asking (begging/pleading/pushing/shoving) anyone and everyone I can to go visit the Institute for Justice's website and hear their story for yourself. They give the details far better than I ever could. The whole story flies in the face of logic and insults or innate sense of Human decency and intelligence, on multiple levels!
I'm giving what I can here by passing their story along to you, my wonderful, courageous readers. If you can support them with a small donation or, at least, pass their story along too, I'm grateful. (It does NOT have to be this post.) We really need to put our tubby bureaucrats in their place, sometimes. This is one of them.

My wonderful readers, Please share us on FB with the following hashtags:
Donald, while I may not always agree with your views, I agree with your right to them and your right to speak/write them. I am never an opponent, but sometimes an opposing view.
I'm happy to spread the word to social media about a law that makes absolutely no good sense and two professional people who merely seek to offer something back to the communities that have supported them.
I suppose the government is upset that these dentists are helping on their own instead of being part of a government clinic operated by the bureaucrats where they expect dentists to contribute a certain number of hours a month. The government would like us to think that only the government wants to help the poor, and not private citizens.
Doesn't this practice go against capitalism and basic human rights? If the two dentists want to charge less, they have all the rights because there's a demand for low-cost dentistry. They're filling in a niche that other dentists won't. This story reminds me of a drink vendor that I know that prices his drinks lower than other vendors. He's forced to increase the prices of his drinks in line with the other vendors even though he's reluctant to do so. He still gives me and my husband his old low price when we purchase from him but the price that he displays at his store is the same as the other vendors. It's quite unfair to force people this way.
I heard of this several months ago, but I don't remember where. Probably on talk radio where the host was equally outraged as you, and as I am when I think about it. Yet the government will let doctors donate their time to the VA and to government run-clinics. My family doctor once donated time to the VA hospital not far from his office. I think the problem here was that it was an individual and the government could neither control it or take credit for it. Sick!
