what is my cat looking at?

Last night my cat jasper jumped up on to the back of the sofa behind me and just sat there, doing nothing but staring at the wall, looking from the top of the wall to the bottom and then back up again.

I didn't notice any flies or spiders or anything and he didn't seem to be on edge, was just happily looking at the wall.

He didn't respond to anyone talking to him or petting him and he sat like this for about half an hour before moving.

I must admit i was a little freaked out because i had just watched a horror movie and was beginning to wonder if it was some sort of ghost he could see, but as i said he wasn't scared so i dunno.

Maybe he just needed some quiet time and decided to meditate. Stay safe and have a fun day.

I am a great believer in cats being able to see ghosts..mainly of their own kind. When Flo-Jo was alive I was convinced she 'saw' Thebes, a previous cat I owned as she would often stare at nothing in particular. I actually found it reassuring, especially now as Flo-Jo is up on the Rainbow Bridge with Thebes, the very cat that 'looked after' her when she was alive. emoticon

Not to scare you even more, but a few years ago a friend of mine wrote a story about how cats could see these aliens in another dimension.

I always think they see ghosts when they seem to stare at things we can't see. Usually in my cat's case it's a Daddy Long Leg that she's seen.

We've had similar situations, often - but never as outstanding as the night my aunt died. My husband, son and I were watching TV and an assortment of pets, two dogs and a few cats, were sprawled here and there on the floor. Suddenly they all bolted into sitting positions and stared at the space above our heads, just a little behind us. One dog whined questioningly. It lasted a few minutes and when they finally all sighed and stretched on on the floor again, like nothing much happened, we were covered with goosebumps. An hour later my cousin called to let us know my aunt had died unexpectedly, about ten minutes before our dog's strange behavior.

thanks for your comments and id rather my cat be seeing a ghost then a alien lol, i believe in both, all just different energies around us in different dimensions.
whats scary though is jasper has stared up in that corner a few more times since this post and my other cat tiger has done it a few times too, so theres definately something there lol.

cats are often inscrutable and it is impossible to get into their mindset - my cats are pretty weird much of the time too
