Which is the Best Social Media Site?

I am some what new to social media, and I am just doing a bit of research at the moment.

There are so many different sites out there, and I am wondering which is the best social media site to concentrate on.

Google's version or attempt at social media do not turn me on. I think it is rather messy and it does annoy me a bit.

I quite like the idea of Pinterest. You can upload images as well as text, and it does seem to be a very popular site.

Twitter appeals as well. You can write short little messages but how do you build up a following? Some people on their seems to have thousands of followers.

Instagram is another site which appeals to me. I take quite a lot of photographs and being able to upload images would be a great advantage to me.

But at the end of the day you need to build up followers, and how do you do that? Please help this social media virgin...

It depends on what your ultimate goal is Annie , I think Twitter is the best to get followers, but you need to spend time interacting (Liking, Retweeting, etc). Pinterest is a good alternative as well. I actually find G+ pretty useful. But I am not an expert, anyways.

Social Media is a strange animal. I find FaceBook obnoxious; it is turning into an "animal worshiping" site(I have a great love and respect for animals, but, enough is enough!). If it were not for keeping up with personal friends and family members, I would delete my FB account. As far as making money on any of these sites, you will not unless you are an affiliate advertiser and, then, there are strict rules by which to abide. I like Twitter, because, being a "wiseguy" by nature, I enjoy putting in my "two cents" worth; I have quite a bunch of followers to date.

I love Facebook as you can play online games on there too, and lots of different companies have pages on there so you can be kept up to date with everything :)

I think that FB is the best of all the sites that you mentioned above.
