DO You Honor Promises?

He was a very poor pauper who lived in the village. The only good thing about him was that he was very prayerful and God listened and answered his prayers. He earnestly prayed to God to bless him with a goat and promised to give it to the church when they were inaugurating the house of God. In other words he wanted to dedicate the goat to God. God was very faithful to him and gave him a big billy-goat. It happened when the time for inaugurating the church reached the man had grown so fond of the goat that he never gave it to the church. Days went by and the man soon forgot that he had dedicated the goat to the church. Since the vow was just made by the man and nobody knew he had promised to give it to God, there was nobody who asked him about the goat. One day as he grazed the goat he fell asleep under a tree and was dozing on and off bending over and rising again. He was in a sitting position. The goat came near and thought the man was challenging it for a fight. It went backwards and hit the man very hard on the head. He died instantly.

This is an interesting story, a warning to us all that we keep our promises. I feel kind of sorry for him though as he did get so fond of the goat and presumably cared for it well

We have many horror stories about people who break their promises to deities too.

I think if you can not honor your word it is best not to give it. I try to the best of my ability try to. If I don't think I can do what ever is asked I say no. May seem harsh but better to know up front I can not do it then twist my arm or guilt me into it and then me not able to follow through.

This is a very interesting and meaningful story. I try to keep up my promises as much as I can. Good lesson learned from your story

Edumate It is very good to keep your promises. Failing to do so makes you lose terribly

nbaquero That site was beaten square. The only problem is that it swindled too much money. Am sure somebody will go to court

I think that keeping the promises is one of the main characteristic of a real man. Man who does not keep his promises is to be pitted.

scheng1 To break a promise is almost like committing suicide

Romeo Trust is built on how good you keep your promises. Woe to the man who does not do this

Yes, I totally agree. It takes a lot of time to build a real trust , but it can be ruined in a minutes.
