Diary – Thursday 8th January 2015

I had to claim welfare in the morning, my first regular fortnightly claim this year and since my Xmas work contract ran out. It went easily and I was back home by 10 AM.

In the late afternoon I called in the library, picking out a few graphic novels for light reading, and headed to the pub for the first of this year’s Manchester science fiction group gatherings, which was lovely – conversation covered how our various Xmas’s went and our TV / cinema viewing highlights of the season.

I got a tram ticket for free as another passenger was just getting off with an all day pass he no longer needed and handed it to me.

I bet he doesn't know that the world has news of his generousness. Hope your contract is renewed..

I see a photo of the central library where Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels used to meet...

I did not realise that Metrolink issued all day tickets as the bus services do. Personally I travel free all the time because I have senior pass.

That was very nice of him to hand that ticket to you for your use. And very fortunate for you.

Hope you find work. I know it is hard here in Texas to find a job. I have two grandsons looking now.

maxeen won't get a new contract on that job until next December sadly - apart from the Xmas peak the post office hires very few new staff and lays off established workers - Yes, Marx & Engels met at this library and other places in Manchester

I would love to see some reviews on graphic novels! My son has been trying to convince me to create a graphic novel out of a SciFi screenplay seren3 and I wrote, um - 25 years ago! emoticon
