The Original Barrel Photo from Which the Puzzle Came

You saw the piece of this barrel, repeated in the photo at the top right, in Guess This Photo Puzzle 2 . Most of you guessed this was a barrel. The other photo here is the photo it came from, taken on December 18. I was sure I had made a post about it somewhere that asked if the people in this house were late at taking autumn decorations down or early getting them up for next year. But I searched in vain for that post here and on tsu to no avail. Maybe I only thought I had posted it. In any case, it appears these people were using this barrel for either display or storage.

I took the photo.

OldRoadsOnceTraveled thought the puzzle piece came from one of the barrels at Jack Creek Farm .

It could have, but it didn't. It also could have come from one of dozens of photos I have taken at local wineries. When you live in wine country, wine barrels are everywhere.

So now you know the story behind this puzzle. I am going to try to make the next one hard enough so that not so many people figure it out right away.

It takes a real expert to make something from thin boards that can hold, without leakage, a large volume/weight of liquid.

I think I have written some posts in my dreams before. I've been certain I wrote about something, but it's no where to be found.

That barrel looks like it had an interesting past life. Maybe we can make another contest out of that - where people have to imagine what it had been used for. Why the crack and what happened to the bottom brace? Leaves a lot to the imagination.

I missed this one! I'm glad you are doing playing the game though.

Well, at least I was sort of close. (In the right state, at least.)

WE have a lot of people that sell wine barrels here, but I don't know if they make them.

I know I've written some in my head while falling asleep, intending to commit them to writing later. i know I already had the photo edited.

Glenn, if you want to start the contest, this is your written permission to use the photo on this site., with credit, of course. I have another contest for fiction writers to get into in a bit.

i will continue to play. I took a lot of photos this afternoon just for this purpose to try to stump some of you.

You were even in the right county. At least you remembered my Jack Creek Farms post.

Yay I guessed right! Haha! That is a majestic looking barrel, it's a shame as they are rarely seen around here nowadays, but they have so much character.

It's good that these barrrels get recycled. My mom had one to collect rain.

I really liked the Jack Creek Farms post. I absolutely had to share it with my brother, who is an old car nut. I should do a post about the car he left in our basement that he was always going to restore "someday" until it literally fell apart piece by piece.

They do have a lot of character.

Everyone loves to get these. I'd love to have some as mini gardens,

You had me fooled ,I didn't think barrel!

I'm glad I was able to fool someone. Puzzle 3 is much harder.
