Stealing Seats - Bad manners on Mass Rapid Transit!
Some incidents In the Singapore Mass Rapid Transit trains still resound in my brain years after I observed them.
It's a truly wonderful, punctual system that carries an incredible number of people around the country every day. One thing I noticed was the increasing number of young teenage passengers, who invariably have iPod wires hanging ftom their ears, a bored look, and a couple of cellphones in their pockets.
It seems to become ever more prevalent that they disregard the signs above certain seats designated for pregnant women, or the elderly and infirm.
The young students quickly grab a place in these seats, and then immediately close their eyes and pretend to be asleep. One day, this scene was set.
The train halted briefly at one of the stops, and in came two very elderly ladies. Their faces never moved a muscle as they saw the "special needs" seats fully occupied.
Without hesitation, one dear woman, armed with a very long, very sharp tipped umbrella walked up to the offending two youngsters, who to all intents and purposes were fast asleep.
Without a word she purposefullytouched his crotch with the umbrella. He woke up in a real hurry, as did his friend. They moved off the seats very quickly, as the two women matter-of-factly claimed them. It was a beautiful incident.

haahaa fantastic, I love her. sadly here in the uk the incident would probably result in the teen screaming abuse and getting the woman prosecuted at best.

That is the type of incident that I like and this should be adopted more often.

These two lovely ladies had obviously worked out a good system! Sad though that they had to do it!

It is true that the present generation is different. I admit I do not belong to the old generation, but sometimes I feel that I am quite alienated to it about many things.
