daily ramble

Good evening everyone, hope you are well.

I was feeling a little under the weather today and have been resting, not doing much. My new (new to me) laptop arrived today so I spent the afternoon installing Ubuntu. I was planning on popping in here and commenting on a few posts, but the I saw a message on my profile from GedWrites which simply said 'Get Writing John'. Well who am I to argue?

Much of the day was spent watching the news coming from Paris. So sad and such terrible scenes. It just leaves me in a state of bewilderment. How can people become so persuaded in their views that they can carry out such acts? How can they place such little value on life?

Sorry, I didn't know what I was going to write when I started this, I'll try and be more upbeat next time.

Good evening. I spent my day writing a documentary and modifying photos. So, for me it was another busy day.

It is hard to stay upbeat when you keep seeing such sad news all the time. Have fun with the new laptop.

Hope you are feeling better, I didn't know anything had happened until lunch time, I'm still not sure exactly what's going on.

I think that trying to understand the "why" of what happened in Paris is very important. Perhaps people will take their heads out of their rears and pay attention.

ison1 wrote on January 7, 2015, 4:00 PM

Writing a documentary sounds exciting. I have some pictures that need some post production work

ison1 wrote on January 7, 2015, 4:01 PM

I know, watching the news can be very depressing. Thanks, I'm liking the laptop :)

ison1 wrote on January 7, 2015, 4:02 PM

Thanks, feeling a bit better. In France 2 gunmen have killed twelve people after they stormed the offices of a satirical magazine.

ison1 wrote on January 7, 2015, 4:03 PM

Indeed so Anja. that is the very important question that needs to be asked

catsholiday wrote on January 7, 2015, 4:06 PM

The news from Paris is awful. I admire the way the French won't bow down to the Islamic terrorists but do feel for the families of those poor people

catsholiday wrote on January 7, 2015, 4:08 PM

Hope you feel better soon and your new laptop is a big success enabling you to be on line when you want.

ison1 wrote on January 7, 2015, 4:25 PM

Yes, it is a horrible thing and I wonder how it can be effectively combatted

ison1 wrote on January 7, 2015, 4:26 PM

Thank you so much. I already feel a little better and I am enjoying the laptop

phoenixmaid wrote on January 7, 2015, 4:55 PM

Good evening lovely. Hope your feeling better soon. I was turned the news off as soon as the report came through, i feel terrible for those involved but I just couldn't watch it today.

kat123456 wrote on January 7, 2015, 5:00 PM

It is incredibly sad news. We can't always remain upbeat when we see such things :(

ison1 wrote on January 7, 2015, 5:17 PM

Good evening to you too:) I know, I don't generally watch the news for long

ison1 wrote on January 7, 2015, 5:18 PM

Hello. yes, some things just force us to stop and think soberly for a while

Louemham wrote on January 7, 2015, 5:28 PM

The happenings in Paris are truly shocking, the world is going crazy nowadays. My thoughts go out to the families of the victims.

maxeen wrote on January 7, 2015, 7:49 PM

I am with you on the Paris outrage! Strange it was Pauls birthday today and I went down the local trendy lane to an art shop. I bought a super birthday card that was a print from a local Woman artist. It was a lovely picture of a Paris scene, I thought we would stop there in the Springtime on our back to France. He had hardly opened his card when the dreadful news came on the box. How dare some try to limit freedom of speech,is it a put up job?

ison1 wrote on January 7, 2015, 7:53 PM

It seems out freedoms are under attack from every side. Terrorists attack out freedom of speech and then the government reesponse wants to take away our right to privacy.

maxeen wrote on January 7, 2015, 8:01 PM

I am so pleased to see such response as we have to online petitions such as from38 degrees.they are doing brilliant work.. re. NHS and others..

Mind wanders sometimes and your post is a fine example. No worry. Your post was interesting.

It really is terrible. To actually kill someone just because they disagree with your ideology or religion. Awful.

j2401 wrote on January 8, 2015, 5:22 AM

I hope you are feeling better today, that news was dreadful, how can people do that!!?

soupdragon wrote on January 8, 2015, 7:37 AM

The news from Paris has been really shocking. Of course the conspiracy theorists are already talking about it being the work of the French or Israeli secret services.

GedWrites wrote on January 8, 2015, 8:04 AM

Sorry mate I didn't realise you were not well, relax and have today off, once you get over your man flu you can write about South Africa's lack of members on PP emoticon

ison1 wrote on January 8, 2015, 8:15 AM

Thank you very much. I'm a great rambler when it come to writing :)

ison1 wrote on January 8, 2015, 8:17 AM

That must be so hard for them. Their loved ones were just going to work

ison1 wrote on January 8, 2015, 8:19 AM

It's something I just can't get my head around.

ison1 wrote on January 8, 2015, 8:20 AM

I am feeling better, but I still decided to stay home, just to be sure :)

ison1 wrote on January 8, 2015, 8:21 AM

The Israeli secret service seem to be very popular with conspiracy theorists.

ison1 wrote on January 8, 2015, 8:23 AM

But spookily, serial nutter David Icke predicted a war on Islam decades ago!

ison1 wrote on January 8, 2015, 8:24 AM

Hey fella :) I've stayed at home as well today, got to keep that man flu in check!

candykane wrote on January 8, 2015, 11:26 AM

I hope you're feeling better by now. I read the news today morning right after I woke up and it's just so horrible. Violence is never the answer!

ison1 wrote on January 8, 2015, 11:54 AM

Yes I'm feeling better now thank you. Stayed at home today as well though :)

Gina145 wrote on January 8, 2015, 6:00 PM

I don't even know how to comment on what happened in Paris, it's just too horrifying for words.
I hope you feel better soon.

Gina145 wrote on January 8, 2015, 6:04 PM

South Africa isn't totally missing from PP. I'm here :)

ison1 wrote on January 8, 2015, 6:29 PM

I know, such sad scenes. It's beyond comprehension what happened

BodieMor wrote on January 9, 2015, 2:01 AM

Shocking, heartbreaking and insane. Though I didn't learn of it till this morning, not having watched any news for a few days. (You're installing Ubuntu? That leads me to assume you might be a computer tech...)
