No furnace! I'm freezing my butt off!

It's in the single digits here as far as temperature and...our furnace decided now would be a good time to die. We are getting by with just a couple of space heaters and the stove for heat.

We called everywhere and they are backed up and can't get to our house to fix or replace the furnace until at least Friday if not Monday. WHAT? I am sitting here with a heavy fleece hoodie on over a sweater, thick socks, long johns under yoga pants and a Snuggie over that and I am still absolutely freezing. The stove with the burners on, does give off some heat but it takes a while to permeate to the living room. The space heaters also do a little but, with temperatures the way they are, this is going to be a LONG week.

I have appointments almost everyday meaning showers will about kill me and getting dressed will be a lesson in how to layer clothing as fast as possible before I freeze.

This isn't the first time this has happened . Our furnace cut out two years ago but we were able to get someone here in two days. I don't even know if we will be able to salvage it this time. They told us it was going back then. A new furnace will cost more than we have sitting around, I image . We'll figure it out. For now, I just want a hot cup of tea, a fur blanket (FAKE fur please) and an all expense paid trip to anywhere that is warm, sunny, and stops my teeth from chattering.

Oh my! I don't think I could handle that at all, possibly a whole week without heat? I'm a big baby when it comes to hot and cold weather, for some reason my body doesn't handle either very well, if I were in your situation I would have to seriously think about going to a hotel. I hope they can get to it sooner than they told you and that it won't be too expensive!

Thats not good. Can you get a propane, gas space heater somewhere. They have the propane ones now that can be hooked to the small tanks like a grill uses. My propane wall heater warms our room nicely. Hope they can get in faster for you.

Not good, hope you can get someone in quicker. Ours went out on us a couple of years ago and it was no fun waiting to get a new furnace in. Esp in winter :(

When I was visiting I did see some furnaces that used firewood. How about having one at your place. - Just a suggestion.

Oh my gosh! You must be miserable. I can't imagine the shouting and screaming that'll be coming from your place during those showers and getting dressed periods. I hope the furnace folks are able to get there sooner than they predicted.

How awful! Isn't there anyone that you can reach out to get help?

I am so sorry to hear you have to go through this. Ugh! I remember I waited until November this year to turn the heat on in my room. It still can get really cold in here. I do hope your water heater is working.

-23 C here, so don't accept a free trip this way. :D I hope you get that sorted soon. Our furnace quit a couple of weeks ago before the cold snap. Someone was able to come quickly and it was an easy fix this time. Well, haven't received the bill yet.

Can you go swim lengths every morning and use the pools shower. lol I've done that when our water pump broke down and my husband was away

That's terrible! Can you heat up your bathroom with a space heater before you have to shower?

I feel for you. I guess it's a good time to be thankful for having a heater that works most of the time. We take so many things for granted until they aren't there or don't work.

Zings you over my cream fleecy throw from my rocking chair and a Brit's stack of teabags. I hear SoCal is warm right about now and I know we have members from there. Maybe they'll send you over some sun and warmth?
