My father used to say that Sundays are boring. He always declared that there was never anything to do. I think he really thought that everything was closed on Sundays as it was when he was a child. I've never thought that Sundays are boring, but I do think that there is a relaxed almost lazy quality to them. It is my favorite part about them.
My father was an avid soccer fan and, to me, Sundays meant watching a soccer match with my father. For those two hours, all boredom would leave him, and he would yell, cheer or jeer at the TV. He was great at coaching his favorite teams from the comfort of the couch. I would yell, cheer and jeer right along with him whether I really cared about the teams or not. After the game was over, he could always be persuaded to play his guitar. I would listen as he played his favorite songs while he reminisced about days gone by through music.
He has been gone for three years now, and I would give anything to have one of those "boring" Sundays back. Enjoy these Sundays with your loved ones and make the most of them. They are gone far too quickly.
