Finding Old Friends - refugees of other sites, come out come out and play!

My introduction post was not really a proper introduction, since it looked to be a test that would either allow me to have an account here or not. I didn't realize my intro was going to be my FIRST post here at Persona Paper. Sincerely sorry about that!

I would like to say a warm fuzzy hello to past friends who may have come here from Bubblews and prior to that, from Mylot. I was originally Mommyboo at Mylot and I used the same handle over at Bubblews, I just wasn't there much. I have lost touch with the majority of people I used to talk to almost daily, so since I found this site and there seems to be a huge infusion of people coming, if you remember me from one of those places, PLEASE comment and let me know who you are, HOW you've been, and jump right in!

I don't remember a lot of names, but I do remember some writing styles, topics, and general humor, and please don't be offended if I don't remember you, if you're memorable from now on, I will for sure! This post is also for people I don't know already, because I'm sure I would like to know you too, especially if you're currently active here or plan to be active here.

OH! A little about me besides the fact that I run and I like coffee. I've been married for 10 years and have 3 kids - only one is still at home (she's 10). I have 2 furry kids - both boys, Simon is a retriever-corgi mix and Rusty is a red lab. They are both rescues and very silly and affectionate, as well as occasionally annoying. I coach cross country for kids and have a paraprofessional cert that I'm not using right now - but I do want to get back into something part time. I have traveled more in the last few years since I started running competitively again than I have for vacations and leisure previously. In fact, I try to plan vacation and leisure trips around a run or a race because that means I usually will get to see other aspects of an area than you would normally see. I guess I'm not your average tourist. In the past 3 years I have traveled to Vegas for the first time (and been back several), Arizona, several places in Utah, and I've also been across the country to MA (for the Boston Marathon). I would love to hit other states by running something in them - great way to see the sights, right? I also like all food... well, almost all food. I don't purposely avoid anything - unless I don't like the texture or taste.

All in all, I am very glad to have discovered this place, and to be here with all of you. I'll check in periodically to see who shows up!

I don't believe we were connected on that "other" site. But we are now. Hello!

AngelSharum wrote on January 3, 2015, 8:51 PM

Nice to meet you. I hope you find the people you are looking for on here and that you enjoy the site.

bestwriter wrote on January 3, 2015, 9:46 PM

Its fine looking for old connections but for this community to be well knit as it is now it would be nice if that is kept in mind.

Soreiya wrote on January 3, 2015, 10:07 PM

I doubt that you would remember me, but I am from there as well.

It's pretty awesome that you have some rescued animals. I've never had any rescues, but I do have a pet kitty.

I found too many old friends from Bubblews site and I'm very happy to see them here. This site is more transparent, people are more sociable and communication is much better.

Mooiiyaan wrote on January 3, 2015, 10:33 PM

Hi :) I'm just new here too! I hope we can be friends :)

seren3 wrote on January 4, 2015, 12:46 AM

I write on other sites too thoughI'm not sure our paths have crossed before. Nice to meet you!

LilyDay wrote on January 4, 2015, 1:10 AM

It's great that you combine your running with the chance to enjoy different places.

kat123456 wrote on January 4, 2015, 1:52 AM

I am seeing lots of familiar faces over here and it's great!

AliCanary wrote on January 4, 2015, 3:24 AM

I wasn't on Mylot, and I don't think we met at Bubblews, but I'm very happy to make your acquaintance and to welcome you to Persona Paper!

BarbRad wrote on January 4, 2015, 3:46 AM

Did you happen to be at the Boston Marathon the year it was bombed? If so, you would have quite a story to tell us.

Vivenda wrote on January 4, 2015, 8:20 AM

I'm from Bubblews and HubPages - although I only wrote three hubs.

TheLambLiesDown wrote on January 4, 2015, 9:43 PM

Okay, now that I've seen your myLot name, I can place who you are :)

iRun wrote on January 5, 2015, 5:27 PM

I'm loving it! Thank you for the warm welcome beachchair

iRun wrote on January 5, 2015, 5:28 PM

Hmmm. I'm not really sure what you're getting at here bestwriter . If that is some sort of dig, please be a little more transparent.

iRun wrote on January 5, 2015, 5:30 PM

Hi Soreiya - they are rescues meaning we adopted them both from local shelters rather than purchasing them from a pet store. I know some shelters end up killing animals, they only have a certain amount of room and resources. I feel very lucky that we found both of them when we did. They are great dogs and a wonderful addition to our little family.

iRun wrote on January 5, 2015, 5:31 PM

Bubblews just didn't seem fun and connected like here, that's for sure! It was odd, because I was actually invited there from someone I knew at the other site. Live and learn, right?

iRun wrote on January 5, 2015, 5:32 PM

Definitely! I look forward to conversations with you, Mooiiyaan !

bestwriter wrote on January 5, 2015, 5:41 PM

No digs allowed here (lol). Sorry if you got that impression. What I meant was that we should go with the old and the new.

iRun wrote on January 5, 2015, 6:11 PM

Thanks for clearing that up lol! I have to ask - has this site gone through any changes or growing pains since it began? I wasn't here when it first started,do you think it has improved from the start?

iRun wrote on January 5, 2015, 6:16 PM

Races are a great excuse to travel, since once you've committed to the race, the travel becomes necessary lol.

bestwriter wrote on January 5, 2015, 6:17 PM

This site has had good features all along and they are perpetually upgrading stuff - multiple image upload is one of them.

iRun wrote on January 5, 2015, 6:19 PM

I was off the grid for awhile after the site I was active at went completely non monetary. I simply stopped posting at any writing sites because anything I found was full of scams or had an ungodly $50-150 cash out point, and unless you had been one of the original members back when the site was new and had 1565 friends to allow you to get minimum views of anything, it was impossible to earn anything, even if you wrote a LOT and logged in daily. I just don't have time for that, I want to write for enjoyment, and chat with others for enjoyment, and read things for enjoyment, with the earnings incentive as a nice little bonus on the side.

iRun wrote on January 5, 2015, 6:22 PM

Oh! Question about the images - do you have to download whatever you use if you use photos? I see many people use photos in posts, but the problem is, I don't know if I want to bother doing a search for what I need if I don't want to use a personal photo, THEN look for the proper information or link to credit the source, and download the photo so I can share it, and copy and paste the permissions link. Seems like a lot of work for a photo.

If it's possible to just copy and paste a link to a photo in order to use a photo, and use the same link for the crediting, that would be lovely. Of course if it's not that simple, I will stick to occasionally using my personal photos or not use them at all. Thanks for the help, if you know!

iRun wrote on January 5, 2015, 6:24 PM

Did you have the same user name at Bubblews? Everybody seems very sociable here, and willing to connect. I like that.

iRun wrote on January 5, 2015, 6:25 PM

It's going to be fun to read and write more again. This is like a social writer's Disneyland!

iRun wrote on January 5, 2015, 6:26 PM

Thank you AliCanary ! Pretty soon I think I may be unable to keep up with the influx of great posts and posters!

iRun wrote on January 5, 2015, 6:27 PM

Actually BarbRad , that was my first Boston, so I will indeed write about it soon.

bestwriter wrote on January 5, 2015, 6:27 PM

Links are allowed provided they are not referrals. You need to give proper credit to pictures that you upload including your own. There is no point however just pasting a link that will open up to a photo. Am image per se gives a post some weight and not just a link.

iRun wrote on January 5, 2015, 6:28 PM

Ha ha ha! Even funnier since we both know who we really are too... in the real world. Out there.. in fb land!

Carmelanirel wrote on January 20, 2015, 8:36 AM

Ahh, yes Mommyboo, I tihnk we were connected on both MyLot and Bubblews. I see we do have a lot in common, though I don't run races, but when I have time I do walk or dance. I will add more info to see if I can jog (pun intended, lol) your memory.
On MyLot I wrote a lot about taking college classes because I wrote a novel and needed to sharpen my writing skills. However, I wrote a lot more on math and the horrible struggle I had with it. (I still do, I never passed the first algebra course and I just started a semester going on a different math route) I also wrote a lot about Penny and Ciara (my profile pic) and their antics as well as Menchi, my granddogger.
On Bubblews I wrote about publishing a short story and again, the classes I am taking, this time with my daughter. Oh, and I have the same name I had on the other sites. emoticon :winking:

iRun wrote on January 20, 2015, 6:21 PM

Right, I was just hoping I could go to say... pixabay (I see a lot of photos credited from there) and use the photo FROM there, but it looks like you have to download everything first. I'm trying to avoid that step. I'll just be posting without using pictures unless there becomes a way I can share a photo from the web with proper credit without having to download it first.

iRun wrote on January 20, 2015, 6:24 PM

I wrote about everything =) When I have the time, I still do. Whatever is going on at the time, whatever is interesting. I'm not a big fan of higher math, so that's definitely not something I would really want to spend a lot of time doing lol. I have a blog but I never write there, I guess I need to write where I have a bigger audience, or chance of one.

bestwriter wrote on January 20, 2015, 6:30 PM

pixabay is the safest. Go to that site and download any picture that suits your post. Copy the url of that picture and paste it in the 'credit' section. The downloaded picture will find a place in your folder. Upload it from there to your post. And finally don't be lazy emoticon

Hey there iRun ! Sorry, that I haven't been around much until now! I definitely remember you from MyLot! I don't recall ever seeing you on Bubblews though! I would have followed you had I known. We'll at least I'm following you now, but I've just gotta ask...where'd you go?
