Washer/Dryer Combo Who Knew?

The apartment I live in doesn't support a full sized washer and dryer so I have to use the laundromat. Since I really don't like the laundromat, I've been researching apartment sized washer and dryer sets. I found one on Craigslist for $350 but the owner didn't know how old the equipment was and I can't afford to waste that much money. Today I went on and found something I never knew existed -- a washer/dryer combo.

This equipment washes and drys in the same unit. LG makes them so I assume they are high quality. Right now the one I would buy costs about $1500 so I won't be rushing to the store to pick one up but it is definitely on my wish list. I can't wait to be able to do laundry at home again.

Is anyone familiar with these machines that can tell me from personal experience how well they work?

Are you looking at an all-in-one or a stackable unit? I have used the stackable unit washer/dryer before in a vacation condo. I didn't think it was too bad, might have been a little smaller capacity. I've never tried an all-in-one though, looking up information. What I'm reading says you should make sure it's equipped with a dryer vent or it might take extra time to dry (be less efficient). I'm intrigued by the idea of a combo all in one, I hadn't even known those existed until I did a search after reading your post. One step wash/dry!

I don't think I want a stackable. I have three little kids in the house and I do a lot of laundry. I'd get aggravated with the small capacity. I'll do a lot more research before I shell out $1500 though.

If the washer and dryer are all one unit (not stackable) then I have never heard of those before. While I don't need one I am now curious and will have to look this up. Good luck with you adventures in laundry. I don't miss the days of the laundromat.
