My Christmas flu the coop!

This year for Christmas, the jolly ol' elf gave us the flu. I've decided he's not the jolly ol' guy that I have been led to believe!

Because of Santa's not-so-wonderful gift, the Hubster and I have been out of commission since Christmas day. Yes, it's accurate to say that this year, my Christmas flu the coop! (As in flu bug, not "flew by too quickly.")

The CDC has declared this particular H3N2 virus to now be of epidemic proportions, and the news just said that the CDC is advising people not to go to the doctor's office, but to be diagnosed by phone, in order to help prevent it from spreading. They're also advising anyone with flu symptoms to contact the doctor as soon as they exhibit symptoms, since the antivirals the doc might prescribe (such as Tamiflu) are most effective in the first 24-48 hours.

My advice? Take the CDC's advice! We've done everything possible, including seeing the doctor twice, taking Tamiful, using a humidifer, drinking plenty of liquids ... you name it, we've done it. And we're still coughing away.

You seriously do not want this flu! Stay away from those who have it, and if you get it, contact your doctor immediately.

So sorry y'all are that sick. My niece is getting over the flu right now too.

Wait a minute. Have you checked your gums and teeth. I read somewhere sinus and stuff could be the result of bad teeth and gums. Just saying.

Maybe that is what I have. I thought it was a cold but it just doesn't want to go away.

Hopefully, you're feeling better soon.

With the prevalence of the flu, I really don't want to go out much right now. Plus, the cold makes snuggling up inside seem far more appealing anyways.

I hate to go to the doctor's office just because I fear to catch a virus. I have little mask to put on my mouth just in case I have to go to see him.

Ugh. Hope you feel better soon. Seems like everyone's had something recently!

I'm very sorry to hear that Santa brought such an unwelcome gift. We've been fortunate so far. I'm pretty well confined, but do have to visit my neurosurgeon Monday and shop at Costco. Those things don't worry me, but having to get a neck X-Ray in the morning does, since there could well be sick people in the lab. We were also planning to go out for lunch, since it's my only chance in a month to go anywhere by car. Don't know if we should or not. I'm so sick of eating my own cooking for a whole month.

Thanks. Sciatica is awful, so glad you didn't have it this year for the holidays. Do you do anything special for it ... heating pad and just tough it out?

Hope it all went well and you didn't catch anything. And it must have been lovely to go out to eat! :)

That's too bad. It's no fun being sick over Christmas and missing out on all the fun. I've been lucky so far (knock on wood) and haven't gotten the flu yet.
