Is Love Alone Enough?

Is Love Alone Enough?

For years I have lived in a fantasy world, believing that love alone is enough to make a relationship strong and long-lasting. But after dipping myself into various relationships up to and including my current engagement, I have come to understand the harsh reality that love alone is not enough in a relationship.
It takes more than love to gel two people together. Though it is the common ingredient, it does depend on other factors like understanding each other, trust, and money.

There is even a certain song that states that Love does not pay the rent. (I forget the title and artist of the song)
What's your take on this friends?

As I've got older I too have realised that love is not enough. All those romantic notions I held dear as a young adult are complete rubbish. The grown up world sucks.

First and foremost love needs to be defined which unfortunately is totally misunderstood. Love is universal and not just among married couples. Love is not passion, infatuation or even romance. Love is longing for each other's company be it anyone. Love is wanting to make another happy and so on.
I do not think anyone has said that love is enough to carry on in one's life. One needs financial security without which living is difficult.

I agree that trust is very important in a relationship aswell.

I think Love is the building block for everything else. If either partner loses their job and rent doesn't get paid, love makes you carry on to find a solution. So in my opinion, yes love is enough

You have to be willing to accept that as the relationship matures it will change. The fireworks will not be there everyday. If you are not best friends also it often will not last.

I remember that as a teenager I believed in unconditional love. Today I know that nothing is for free.
