Welcome to Florida

There aren't many places in the US where you can go to the beach in early January and have it be not only warm enough to walk on the sand with the waves lapping at your toes but warm enough that other people are out enjoying the beach too. Some of them were even swimming without wetsuits. Tourists. I didn't think it was warm enough for that but I was glad to see it anyway. Their enjoyment makes my own stroll more lively. Just the dog and I wandering on an empty beach is peaceful but I feel more connected with the world when there are people around. I don't need them to talk to me. I'm too introverted for that but I find it nice to be around them. Welcome to Florida in January.

I am sure that Florida beaches are gorgeous. I would love a vacation in Florida.

I'm dying to go to the beach since the weather has been so nice. Definitely not warm enough to get in the water, but warm enough to enjoy the fresh air! Of course, we have 80-something degrees in this part of Florida right now - which is a bit warm for this time of the year.

I was born there but when my dad was no longer listed we moved north. WAY north. I love to visit. My husband and I would like to retire there someday.

Thera where in Florida are you located? I live Broward County close to Fort Lauderdale beach.

I hope it stays like that for a little longer. I know the end of January is usually the coldest.

I am prejudiced being from Southern California but our weather is far superior to Florida. No humidity or daily rain showers or mosquito swarms.

When I was a kid, my family and I went to Florida many times for vacation. We especially liked New Smyrna Beach and Fernandina Beach on the Atlantic coast.
