Back Down to 59%

The Persona Paper exchange rate increase is now in place, so we'll all be earning 50% faster than we were only yesterday. And because Persona Paper is the only writing site I know of that functions with a variable exchange rate, it also means that your bank balance just went up by 50%. So if you had 1000 coins in your bank, yesterday it was worth $1.00 but it's worth $1.50 today.

That may not sound like much of an increase, but coming at the same time the other site retroactively cut or cancelled all its pending redemptions it's pretty good news. I like to keep things into perspective.

It is a little discouraging to see the progress bar take a dip already, though. Since I was already over the 5000 coins or $5.00 required for cash-out as of yesterday, my progress bar had been at 100% for some time. Now that the minimum payment has been raised too, I'm down to only 59% on the progress bar. It feels like a bit of a backslide, even though I know I gained with the rate increase.

It's just psychology. I wasn't planning to cash out for anything less than $20 anyway. But seeing the nice complete bar drop back to a little more than halfway there? Well, it's tough not to dwell.

It will pass! But as when meditating, I'm recognizing the passing distraction and making a conscious effort to release it. It's a little like blowing a soap bubble and waiting for it to pop...

You think that's bad? I chose to cash out for the first time at just over $5 (mainly to make sure the link to my PayPal was valid) and I did it the day before elitecodex posted his update - dammit! LOL

Good morning and Happy New Year! Yes many bubbles popped quite loudly yesterday evening and I don't mean the champagne ones!

Louemham wrote on January 1, 2015, 11:48 AM

I am still getting to girps with the way we are compensated here, it's slow right now for me, but I guess the time of year and that I am a newbie are contributing factors.

wolfgirl569 wrote on January 1, 2015, 11:54 AM

Being new here I got to see my progress bar go up instead of down. Not by much but a little. It felt good

Feisty56 wrote on January 1, 2015, 12:10 PM

Now that's what I call unfortunate timing. Poor Kasman. I guess you'll just have to get to posting, posting, posting. : )

Feisty56 wrote on January 1, 2015, 12:13 PM

It is all a matter of perspective, isn't it? I find it interesting that even among a sea of positives, that one or two less-than-positives stand out in my mind more than any of the rest. I've always thought this was true for everyone, but perhaps that type of "wiring" isn't innate in us all.

Glenn wrote on January 1, 2015, 12:33 PM

Well yes, but it's only a psychological issue with how one feels about seeing the progress bar drop back, as you said. The fact is that we all gained, and we gained well with a 50% increase in our bank.

AngelSharum wrote on January 1, 2015, 12:43 PM

You'll get up to the $20.00 before long I'm sure.

ConstantDementia wrote on January 1, 2015, 1:08 PM

I am at 2% but since the other site has been a big disappointment, I will be spending more time here so hopefully I will push that bar considerably

maxeen wrote on January 1, 2015, 1:19 PM

I remember the first few weeks on bubbles it was so slow then all at once it happened! (not for keeps though) I think we will find that this site will become as good as bubbles quite soon...

OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on January 1, 2015, 1:23 PM

I am so happy with the way Persona Paper is run financially! Thank you MaeLou and elitecodex ! I'm looking forward to so much here in 2015, but first I have several more hours of unexpected deleting to elsewhere. (Not how I planned to spend today!)

Cinna wrote on January 1, 2015, 1:29 PM

I went from 4% to 2% but the change upped me to 50 cents in actual cash value.

SLGarcia wrote on January 1, 2015, 1:40 PM

I wouldn't have cashed out until at least $20 anyway, so I have no problem with the progress bar being lower. If anything it inspires me more!

nbaquero wrote on January 1, 2015, 1:57 PM

Ruby3881 I think elitecodex said they will honor those that had reached the redemption level prior to the new exchange rate, you migth want to check with him.

Anja wrote on January 1, 2015, 2:42 PM

I haven't been very active here for a long time but way back when I first started we were getting a higher exchange rate and I had reached the $5 but didn't cash out before the rate went down. So the increase in the exchange rate gave my back a nice little boost, almost up to where it was before it went down. Of course, like you, my progress bar has fallen mightily.

WordChazer wrote on January 1, 2015, 4:43 PM

I'd rather have 59% on a site that is open and clear with its members than money pending on a site that slaps us in the face.

Ruby3881 wrote on January 1, 2015, 5:01 PM

Oh no! I feel bad for you Bill!

I know I'm gaining. As I said, it's just psychology...

momathome wrote on January 1, 2015, 6:09 PM

I haven't even looked at mine yet, lol! After reviewing all my online earnings over the last week, the writing sites (here and Bubblews) have both been regulated to personal time activities just because they don't produce enough earnings to compete with my other sites. So the earnings rate isn't really a major deal for me on here. I must have missed something on the other site, I didn't hear anything about another rate drop or that they were reducing/cutting/canceling all their pending redemptions, of course I haven't been on there yet today so I guess I'd better go see what's going on.

Brenda wrote on January 1, 2015, 8:29 PM

I certainly looking for a better and more productive year this year with P.P. Last year was not good but can now look forward to a wonderful year. And I am referring to my actual activity level.

katiemmoore25 wrote on January 1, 2015, 10:15 PM

I am only at 1 percent lol But I am new and hoping to be productive on here! :)

bestwriter wrote on January 2, 2015, 1:02 AM

I did try to redeem a couple of times but for some reason the action was not completed. I am happy about that as I am way past the 20 dollars.

Jaffy wrote on January 2, 2015, 3:24 AM

Oh well its not bad. Its going to be just fine very soon. This will help the website.

MakeMoneyOnline wrote on January 2, 2015, 6:23 AM

I try not to look at the progress bar too often. I just enjoy posting and interacting. It will be a nice surprise when I suddenly realize I'm closing to the 100% :) I am now at about 2%, but who's looking, haha

LadyDuck wrote on January 2, 2015, 8:03 AM

I see the comment by Kasman, I am so sorry, what a bad timing. I plan to spend more time here, now that the other site is so disappointing.

scheng1 wrote on January 2, 2015, 9:45 AM

I definitely hope that the "variable exchange rate" means the rate keeps going up, and not in see-saw movement.

Donna_Thacker wrote on January 2, 2015, 12:01 PM

When I first logged in I was shocked to see my progress bar down some, then I realized why and was like Yay! pay increase, lol. I am glad they followed through with it and now must get to writing more.

FernandoSHA wrote on January 4, 2015, 1:48 AM

So it's the reason my progress bar slid from 3% to 2%. Thanks for the info. I still new around here.

RikRavado wrote on January 4, 2015, 5:37 AM

Interesting article. Love the reference to waiting for a soap bubble burst! Ah Bubblews, what will we do without you?

phoenixmaid wrote on January 4, 2015, 3:12 PM

It's nice to see the changes and a variable pay rate makes a lot of sense to me, the owners seem to have it all planned out properly so hopefully we should see more increases as the site grows.

SoundNFury wrote on January 7, 2015, 5:03 AM

I just got here a few days ago but I think that is a pretty neat feature (the way the bank can increase, etc.) And like you said, especially when you put it into perspective, as compared to that "other" site.

Ruby3881 wrote on January 8, 2015, 4:32 AM

Persona Paper is far better than Bubblews in a great many ways. I'm not worried about it taking time for the exchange rate to come up, because I know Will and Heather are safeguarding this site against the kind of crises that Bubblews has faced more than once in its short existence. Slow and steady wins the race!

Ruby3881 wrote on January 8, 2015, 4:33 AM

I won't request a cash-out now, even though I know I could. I don't see that as beneficial to either me or the site.

Ruby3881 wrote on January 8, 2015, 4:37 AM

I hope so too! Those of us who were here last summer were caught in the downwards adjustment of our earnings. I've now made more dollars than I lost when that happened, but there's still a part of me that would like to hold on in hopes of an additional increase. It would be fun for all my coins to be worth what they were when I first joined - or better!

Ruby3881 wrote on January 8, 2015, 4:39 AM

I think that's why my mind stuck on the backwards slide: I saw the rate go up first, and it was only afterwards that my progress bar went down.

Ruby3881 wrote on January 8, 2015, 4:41 AM

A great deal of forethought went into Persona Paper. Some other "Bubblews alternatives" are seeing a huge increase in popularity, but judging from experience and what I'm hearing, they aren't planning ahead nearly as well as they think they are. Persona Paper is one of only two writing options that seems to have a professional management in place.

phoenixmaid wrote on January 8, 2015, 4:51 AM

So many of the alternative are being set up in a rush by individuals who are simply using a very cheap revenue sharing template and running before they can walk. many of them are ex bubblers i have found 5 more that i won't touch with a barge pole or even name as I'd hate to put people onto them only to see them lose out.

maxeen wrote on January 8, 2015, 9:09 AM

I didn't mean that ,I meant it is slow at the beginning then as we progress with more writing we just see it ,the bar ,creeping along speedier..

soupdragon wrote on January 9, 2015, 4:48 PM

I am trying not to get disheartened by the slow progress and I'm prepared to go slowly and steadily, give the site time to build up.
