Just Walkin' in the Rain

Getting soaking wet. But I really didn't know it would when I left. I knew it was about time for the gardener to show up and I wanted to avoid the noise he would make. I knew it was cold out, though, and put a snow hat on under my sun hat. There was still enough sun to get in my eyes when I left. I put my camera in a waist pack and gloves in my pocket. And off I went.

As I started down the street, the sky looked like this and I wondered if it might rain.

I took the photo.

When I got to the trailhead to start home, the sky looked like this.

I took the photo.

Just a bit farther down the trail, the had turned even darker.

I took the photo.

I took a few more pictures when I heard running behind me. I looked up, and saw a friend from church, whom, of course, I haven't seen in weeks since my confinement. She slowed down to walk with me until we got to the end of that trail. By then the sky looked like this.

I took the photo.

I asked my friend if she wanted to walk back through the park and she said she'd have to start running again because it was going to rain. So off she went. By the time I'd taken a couple more photos the rain had started. By the time I made it home, it was pouring. When I looked down at myself, I looked like this.

I took the photo.

One just never knows. Lovely sky then the snow arrives. Nice pictures.

I like your pictures very much. Next time try to follow the Weather Forecast. Just in case. :)

Those are great pictures. As they say "What can't be cured, has to be endured" and you did exactly that. You enjoyed the rain looking at your photo (lol)

Nothing wrong with walking in the rain unless it is storming and lightening.

BarbRad wrote on December 30, 2014, 9:43 PM

Thanks. You should see all the ones I left out.

Today I was just trying to escape the gardener. The irony was that when I got back he was sitting in his truck in front of my house. When I saw him getting out of it, I asked him if he was planning to try to mow in the rain and he said he'd try. I told him to just skip today. He had probably been hoping the rain would stop. It did an hour later.

It was fortunate that I was dressed for it. The sun hat keeps the rain off pretty well, as does the jacket. Usually I don't dress like this.

But one does get wet. I still think the sort of rain we had today was for ducks, not me, to walk in. I don't mind a drizzle, but this was real rain.

Oh my gosh! You look so cute in your hats -- sort of reminds me of The Flying Nun. : ) I absolutely love the third outside scene. I'm sorry you got wet, but glad you were fairly close to home by time it began to rain.

I love walking in the rain but it would be to cold here right now. Wonderful pictures of the clouds.

This is Guiness the Cat. Silly human. Don't you know when to come in out of the rain?

BarbRad wrote on December 31, 2014, 2:17 AM

I wouldn't mind being able to fly and take aerial shots. I was about four blocks from home when the rain started.

BarbRad wrote on December 31, 2014, 2:19 AM

Thank you. It was 50 F here today. I love clouds and take hundreds of photos of them.

BarbRad wrote on December 31, 2014, 3:43 AM

I did get out as fast as I could walking when the rain started. I'm not supposed to run.

nbaquero wrote on December 31, 2014, 4:35 AM

BarbRad As long a you can safely walk, going out in the rain is not a problem, but it would be better if you had someone to tag alone, just in case. Nice pictures!

I love the stormy pictures, Barb. I have tons similar to these, but taken at the beach looking out over the Atlantic. Oh, and thanks, Feisty56 for the memory of the Flying Nun- I used to watch that all the time! Happy New Year, Barb!!

I like the pictures. Hope you're on the mend....

Nice pictures, I enjoyed them very much. We have the most beautiful clouds here where I live. Maybe I'll write an article with photos about them one day. I always forget to take photos, though because I'm always so mesmerized by them. Have a wonderful year 2015!

You took really interesting pictures. And the storyline made your presentation complete. I love your way of photograghing with the perspective in mind. Well done. Made me feel like I was part of it right there with you, getting wet in the rain.

LilyDay wrote on December 31, 2014, 11:35 AM

I don't mind being out in the rain as long as it is not the bitterly cold variety. I rather like rain in general; it makes for the perfect weather to stay inside and write.

BarbRad wrote on December 31, 2014, 5:28 PM

I wish i did have someone to walk with, but Hubby's ankle is acting up and he can't keep up with me even when it isn't. He swims. I walk.

BarbRad wrote on December 31, 2014, 5:30 PM

I have a vast collection of these myself. I've never counted them, but I find the cloud formations fascinating.

BarbRad wrote on December 31, 2014, 5:33 PM

There are good days and not so good days, but I am only on OTC pain meds now, and normally only before bed. The worst is not knowing what it means if my neck or something else hurts. I'll find out Monday on my first voyage in a car -- thirty miles one way. I see the doctor, and I'll milk it for all it's worth. I hope to get out for lunch and to Costco while I can. Costco will be my Monday walk.

BarbRad wrote on December 31, 2014, 5:34 PM

Yes. I know what you mean. But I see them and have to try to capture them.

BarbRad wrote on December 31, 2014, 5:36 PM

Thank you. I don't have any other company on my walks most days, so I might as well bring my readers along.

OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on January 1, 2015, 1:09 AM

This is Guiness the Cat. Running is a little undignified at our stage of wisdom and maturity, isn't it?

PeggyWds wrote on January 2, 2015, 4:51 PM

It looks like you have a nice place to walk in your neighborhood. We have also been caught in the rain on occasion.

BarbRad wrote on January 3, 2015, 1:59 AM

I feel the same way. I find it hard to stay in when we have lovely weather outside.

BarbRad wrote on January 3, 2015, 2:00 AM

I am very grateful the park is there. As soon as I have time I'll explain more about it.
