Factors which may stop you from getting six pack abs...

Lack of sleep, or if you are under stress while your work out, then hormones play up by retaining water. Due to water retention, the workout fails, and you get more stressed and there go your efforts in drain.

But the fact is that if tried well and by following rules anyone can get six pack abs. Many times, we meet people who work out regularly, take controlled diet but still they fail to get six pack abs and on the other hand there are people who have six pack abs without any work out, even no control on what they eat, so the time period and efforts differ from person to person.

This situation is very frustrating. The main key to success here is consistency, and discipline in your workout regime. You will need to watch out everything you do whether it's work out, food, your stress level and your life on whole to achieve your most desired six pack abs.

I will never get abs like those (wrong gender) but that guy certainly has done a lot of work. I like doing strength training in order to stay healthy as I age.

...eating 6,000 calories per day, half of which may be beer.

Where did you find that photograph of me? LOL. The nearest I ever get to a six-pack is picking one up from the market. :)

I had no idea that stress made you retain water. I have never heard that one before.
