Does your city call dibs?

When the snow piles up in my town, people bust out with all kinds of objects to mark their parking spot. It takes a good hour or so to clean a parking spot and there are drivers that would't think twice about stealing one. Anything can be used for dibs from chairs to buckets to milk crates, and sometimes even home decor. It's people's way of saying, "I worked hard to clean my space, so no one dare take it". There have been instances in which the cars of parking space thieves have been vandalized or buried in snow. Yes, it's that serious. So, does your city do this when it snows? What do you think of this so called tradition?

We have that issue as well, pretty much a free for all this time of year with the parking.
