Christmas - On Call

This will be an odd Christmas for the family. I am on call the week of Christmas and must be within 30 minutes of work. I don't see it as a bad thing because others will be in the hospital and we need to provide support just as any other day.

We have made special plans and basically cancelled Christmas for a few days until all settles down.

Fortunately the grandkids get to celebrate twice this year! We will be decorating this weekend and making plans with the family just as many will. It's always nice to see the kids have a great time. The good part about waiting a few days is we miss all the holiday traffic and rush to get to the stores in time. With a few more days, they may get better gifts!

I hope everyone is enjoying this Christmas season!!

It sure disrupts family event. Fortunately you have not planned on a cruise.

Maybe they will enjoy their meal better too! Hope you have a good Christmas, even though you will be on call.

sward About 20 years ago, when working as Cellular Site Technician, my teammate was On Call for Christmas Week. There was an emergency at a cell site about 100 miles from our city and he received the call, he had to travel to troubleshoot the problem, it turned out to be a damaged duplexer. My boss called me on Dec 25th at 3 AM to go get a spare duplexer from the warehouse and then travel to the site to help my teammate. So much for not being On Call.
