Are there any Helium.com writers here?

The month of December has started and on 15th December, 2015 Helium Publishing will finally be laid to rest.

I was a member there for almost 7 years and though I did not make a lot of money, I gained extremely valuable insight on how to polish my writing and become a better writer. I made lots of friends from around the world and also served as one of the channel managers under Religion & Spirituality. I have so many beautiful, heartwarming memories associated with that website but like most online things, this too came to an end.

I joined only after Helium stopped publishing articles. Though people grumbled about lots of things there too, but i think credit should go to Helium team for making writers care a lot about the site. The team of Senior Managers was very dedicated and very supportive and the community forum one of the best places to chat and discuss all topics. There was even a Writing Critique Forum where we could post links to our articles and other members suggested improvements.

However, I feel things ended on a sour note as Helium set a limit of $25 on final cash out and many people were struggling to reach that amount. So if anyone has even $24.99, they will not be able to get their money. I currently have $24 in my account there and I am promoting my articles on , Pinterest and Twitter so that I can reach $25 before December 15th.

Wish me luck!!

I hope you get to the $25. It's kind of poopy that they made that limit, since it's no fault of yours that they are closing. I have a similar story, myself, having started my online writing career at Associated Content, which became Yahoo Voices. I made many wonderful friends there, and it was very sad when they finally closed it down this summer.

I have just reached $25 in Helium, so I will be getting my last payout. Helium is my first writing site since I started writing in 2009.

Good for you. I hope I can reach $25 too. Do you miss writing there?

scheng1 wrote on December 3, 2014, 2:43 AM

Not really. Helium is tough. I miss the upfront payment. Back in those days, I worked very hard to get 4 writing stars.

I didn't realize. Certainly, it's important that you reach $25 . It would make me very upset to think of them keeping your $24. I think I will go to Helium and do some reading.

You can do it!!! I really hope you get there but I think they should pay any existing amounts as they are closing. x

i have been promoting them rather aggressively on Tsu and Twitter. I am on $24.09 at the moment and have just 11 days to reach $25. I appreciate your help:) Thanks!

#AliCanary Many people demanded that the limit be lowered to $1 to enable everyone to cash out but as usual, the plea fell on deaf ears. Think of thousands of bank accounts with $0.1-$24.99 that will be swallowed by the parent company on December 15th.

#AmyBoo That was the demand..before closing pay any amount accumulated but it was not granted. Thanks for the support:)

I was on helium pretty much since the beginning (2006 ish I think) I eventually ended up the site curator for sports when we switched to the network, and well you know how that went! I was actually really lucky because for some reason or another I had been saving my earnings up there so when they made the announcement I had over $50 and was able to withdraw it straight away. I do think its terrible they have not decided to lower the payment threshold, I understand them not bringing it right down to a dollar, I think that would be difficult for them with all the inactive accounts etc, but I do think it was reasonable of people to expect them to bring it down to $5 or even $10. if I can locate your articles I will add them to my twitter feed from now till the 15th, every little helps and hopefully that will get you up to $25

I am truly touched by your kind words and gesture . I used my real name there (Gulrukh Tausif) and here's the link to my page (I hope it is not a violation of PP rules) : https://app.heliumnetwork.com/heliumnetwork/viewPublicUserBio.sc?userNumber=335020

I really appreciate your help and hope I can return the favor somehow someday:) :)

Thank you

melody23 wrote on December 3, 2014, 12:08 PM

Gulrukh! I had no idea this was you (its Kirsty by the way)! How nice to see you here, I honestly don't know about the link, its not a referral link so I think its ok but I am not 100% sure, either way I will be able to find your articles now which is a good thing. It may not help much at this stage but with less than $1 to go I am sure we can get you there!

on another note, thank you so much for helping me out with the Cricket channel back on helium, I really needed the help and I know how busy you were with your other channels.

I am currently interested in reading Helium articles from authors who are under $25 if you know of any others.

I was never on Helium. I got my writing start on Squidoo and was very disappointed when they closed the site. I was on HubPages for a short while but deleted all my content there because I didn't think it was the proper site for my (mostly) personal writing.

Helium was also one of the first places I started writing on line at. I have lots of articles there, sigh. I probably should check in and see if there is anyway I am close to payout but I doubt it.

Dawnwriter wrote on December 4, 2014, 11:08 PM

#Donna_Thacker I think you should check your earnings there. Who know you might be close to $25 and a little bit of effort can take you over the threshold.

crowntower wrote on December 6, 2014, 6:06 AM

that is so sad to hear it. i hate hearing sad stories specially when things need to close down after years of taking care of it. I hope you guys there are okay and get the minimum payout that you need. God bless you there. I hope I can help in anyway.

Dawnwriter wrote on December 6, 2014, 12:10 PM

#crowntower Thank you for your kind wishes and support. I am about 50 cents away from $25 and have about 8 days to reach there :)
