Editing My Photo Of Peachy Canyon Gazebo

Back in 2010 I started playing with a photo I had taken of the gazebo at the Peachy Canyon tasting room in Templeton, California. It is a scenic place, one of my favorites to photograph. I was experimenting with Photoshop Elements 8, trying out various effects. The the intro photo is the original. You can enlarge it by opening it in a new tab.

When I first posted the photo on , back when Gather was a wonderful place to make friends and share writing and , someone had said the photo of the almost looked like a painting. So I decided to try out various effects to see what they would do. Here are the results.

Neon Glow is below.

I took the photo and edited it.

Next is Neon Glow 2.

I took the photo and edited it.

Cut-Out is below.

I took the photo and edited it.

Last is Plastic Wrap

I took the photo and edited it.

Which effect do you like best? Do you like any better than the original? Why or why not?

When a photo that is clicked looks like a painting it should remain that way. I like the original.

I like the original, too, but I still like one effect better than the others.

Sorry for not liking your efforts ,the first is the best for me.

I liked Neon Glow 2 the best out of the edited photos. I like the distinct lines of the gazebo and trees, along with the color. But, I do prefer the original photo.

I love art, the original one looks good and the other one looks artistic and nice too

That's why I don't really use effects much. This was just an experiment.

That's my second favorite apart from the original.

It's hard to improve on the way God makes things, and he made what was in the original. A human artist interprets and paints a scene from his perspective, but a program just does its thing with no thought required -- at least when it applies automatic effects without the input of a human except to click.

I think Mother Nature knows best every time .

I'm addicted to reality on landscape photos, but of the effects, I like plastic wrap the best.

Bingo. That's the only one of them I like.

I prefer "Cut Out" myself. What fun techniques to try out!

When I look at "Cut-out'" I think I see two creatures nose-to-nose in the tree on the right side.

Awesome original picture! I really liked the cut-out version, but I think I like the original the best

I think it's hard to improve on nature.

I dig the last one, especially the spooky sky :)

That was also my favorite.
