The Best Laid Plans

Today our main project was to get the you see in the photo moved. We have it sold and the buyer had hired the . They were to arrive at 11 AM today. The buyer was going to come and help us prepare a path for the movers. We arrived at the house about 10:30 and I started some things to my car to get them out of the way. Most of the stuff you see right around the piano will be going into the adjacent bedroom until the piano is out. What’s on the piano I have already moved.

Shortly after we got to the house this morning, the buyer arrived, early. At first I thought he was joking when he said the mover was sick. He wasn’t. We have had to postpone this project until tomorrow. We hope the mover will feel better and be able to come. The next available day the mover has open is the day of my treadmill stress test. We really need to get this project checked off the list before my surgery.

Yikes, with the time table you have, there isn't much room for snafus. I hope you're able to get this project successfully completed soon.

That piano looks almost identical to the one that used to be in the fellowship hall at my church. The decision to use professional movers was very wise based on personal experience (of the observation/supervision variety :) of course).

Thanks. I do, too.

I'm hoping the movers aren't sick again tomorrow.

That is a 1916 Steinway, and the buyer is really excited about getting it. He is a musician and wants it for his studio. I'm waiting to see how many black widows surface when we move it from where it's been sitting since 1993.

That frustration of not getting things done when they have been planned is quite a common experience.

Oh, my. Well, I hope that the buyer helped you get some of the things moved out of the way so that when the mover feels better, that will already have been done, at least.

Okay, now you have me creeped out about spiders!

This post struck a chord with me...Maybe moving pianos isn't really his forte...

BarbRad wrote on November 22, 2014, 3:51 AM

True, but it doesn't ease the frustration. I would not even have gone over there yesterday were it not for that.

It's done now. See my post today. He not only helped move stuff out of the way, but also came back here and helped clear move and the table in the garage my husband wanted to put where the piano had been, and took it back to the other house. That meant I got to stay here and get some lunch and recover from the stress.

BarbRad wrote on November 22, 2014, 3:55 AM

We did get it out today, but it was stressful. See the most recent post.

I can understand. I hope you will take it in your stride.

Oh, what a nice person! He could probably tell you needed a break.
