Juggling Projects

You haven't seen much of me online today because I've been busy with real life again. I'm simultaneously working on three related . I already mentioned I'm trying to make the Paso Robles home office functional. That means taking everything off the desk and from the drawers to sort and put back in some kind of reasonable order where what I need is accessable.

That became even more urgent when I actually started and completed another project – getting my old printer from Templeton connected here and testing it. I am very tired of running to Templeton everytime our Realtor wants us to print and sign another form and fax it back to her. I should save a lot of gasoline this way. Best of all, when I tested the printer, the toner was still working after four years in the closet. But to install the printer, I had to put it on a bookcase next to the computer CPU, so I can reach it, and there was already stuff there I had to remove to add to the sort project.

The main sort project is taking place on the dining room table, which is large, and where I already have two other sort projects in process, both of which are related. There's the (bills, receipts, unopened mail, etc., and then there are the damaged books I have to record so I can give them away and write them off. On top of what's on the table, I've added boxes to sort what is on or inside the desk, as well as what's inside all the stationery boxes from our parents' estates that are stacked around the rest of the office.

Lastly, I have to start filling more boxes for the thrift shops and other places I take books. Some of the reference books and textbooks go to the homeless shelter. I'll also see if they might need anything else I want to get rid of. Hubby can always take it where it needs to go, even after my surgery, so we can have more of the living room and dining room back. Sure glad I'm not having to host a Thanksgiving dinner this year.

The photo shows my newly connected HP LaserJet 5L printer, all ready to go.

What is life without action in the real world? And when a project gets completed that is another joy generating factor. emoticon

Real life? Again??? Bummer. :) You're getting more decluttering done than I am. Today I manage to stick a handful of junk mail in the recycling bag (after removing my name/address), and taking the plastic bags and Styrofoam to Publix. As it was, the bin at Publix didn't have room for all the Styrofoam, so most of it is still in my trunk. Don't work too hard.

True. Tomorrow we will finally get the piano out of our living room in Templeton so we can cross that off our list.

I'm calling it a night on the decluttering. i have to be at the Templeton house by eleven to help facilitate getting the piano out. It was the first thing moved into the house and getting it out won't be any picnic. The one buying it will also be there to help us get ready for the movers he hired.

BarbRad, I commend you. Just keep plugging away at all your projects, but do not let them get the best of you. It took years to get that cluttered, I'm sure, and the clean-up won't happen overnight. If I lived closer I'd offer for my wife and I to come help you out! Good luck to you, and please keep us all posted.

Ah, real life does get in the way, doesn't it! Congrats on getting the printer up and running.

I'm calling it a night on everything. I don't know how I stay so busy and get so little done. I didn't even turn my computer on today until after 4:30.

Yes. I'm glad we at least finished the printer project. We can't check off the piano yet.

BarbRad wrote on November 21, 2014, 2:58 AM

I'm sure your wife would appreciate your volunteering her, but this is something only I can do, and I lost a day today when the mover didn't come for the piano and will lose half another one tomorrow.

Thanks. Now if we can jut get moving the piano checked off the list for tomorrow. Sigh!
