I Am Writing a Book

Last night, I made arrangements with a friend who has published several books, to co-write a book with me. I spent 17 years as an exotic dancer and have always wanted to write about it, but felt I didn't have the skill or experience. However, with the help of an experienced novelist, I think we can make this happen.

I started writing it last night. My friend told me to just write a couple of thousand words a day and send it to her; she will rewrite it and edit it, and form it into a book. I certainly have lots of interesting things to talk about; strange customers with weird fetishes, good bars and bad, etc.

I'm excited and a little nervous. I haven't danced in the clubs for about ten years now so my memories are a little hazy. It seems ike a different life.

Once we get it done, we'll be publishing it in eBook and probably in real book form too. I would assume it will take us six months to a year to complete.

I'll keep you all updated on how things are going! Wish me luck! Hugs!

A couple of thousand words a day is easy to say but hard to do. I wish you good luck and a bit of stubbornness emoticon
Your memory will come back and become vivid with every sentence that you will write.

Remember to spice it up with things that may have happened. Foggy memory and such.

Wow, that actually sounds like a book I'd be interested in reading! If you do get it published please share the link to it. I would love to read your ebook.

Ooh, sounds exciting, Patricia. I've thought of co-authoring a book or ebook with someone else before. I've got ideas for several books on the back-burner until I have more time to delve into it more. Maybe as you get going with it, you'll become more confident of your writing abilities and more of your own voice can come through. I've read several books that were co-authored and many times you can't tell when one or the other person is doing the writing, it's that seamless.

I think that's an awesome idea! I've known a number of exotic dancers over the years, many of whom were Pagans. One young woman I knew in university was also a dance major in school. She had some really interesting stories to tell!

Wow you were an exotic dancer? Cool! I love dancing but I do it for musical theater shows.

I'm sure you have lots of good stories and experiences to share! I know just working as a bartender I've seen my fair share of things! LOL ; )

The best of luck. I had a friend who knew a couple exotic dancers and they had plenty of interesting stories.

That sounds exciting! I've occasionally entertained the idea of writing a book, too, but I wouldn't know what to write about (and my life certainly isn't as interesting as yours has been!), nor do I know anything about how I would go about getting it published. I hope it works out well for you!

An "exotic" dancer? No wonder you're hiding on 42 acres of land! Any way, I'm thinking of trying an e-book, but not thinking for a moment I will reap great benefit.

I agree, making a profit from ebooks is rare, and I think I writer's goal should be to do it for the joy of doing it, and not for a profit (and if you do make some,it's a bonus!) Since I originally wrote the post I managed to publish a children's book (I've made a couple of bucks, but nothing major), wrote my Memoirs of an Exotic Dancer (It's at a publisher's right now) and I just finished writing a book on dog breeds (It's being edited right now). What were you thinking about writing about?

Science or math, or how science and math are possibly mixed in with philosophy, which should be screened out.

I wish you the best of luck in writing your book and getting it published. I really hope all has gone well for you.
