A-W Challenge - Anime

Category Challenge - Anime

I watch the animation, so you don't have to!

Well, that is... I have seen a few minutes of the millions of hours available, and have got the gist of Anime: It's nothing more than animated imagination.

Perhaps that places it to high in the grand-scheme of things. It is a vast collection of animation, or animated films, mostly Japanese that have garnered an equally large following across the globe.

In itself Anime can be described as an animated film; A cartoon or storyboard that is presented as a series of pictures.

A whole industry has arisen around it and it generates huge amounts of income to those who produce it.

But what is it?

It is nothing more than storytelling. While that may be a simplistic answer it is nevertheless, true. Anime tells a tale of derring-do by heroic (by default) characters who delve into fantastical worlds of demons and devilish darkness and emerge triumphant at the end. Sometimes with great reward. Other times with little more than a lesson well-learned.

It can of course pursue a more familiar path of human endeavour, by telling tales of a more romantic scene, even to the point of pornography - Oh yes, it exists - porno cartoons. Who knew?

I am not a fan. A true fan will extoll the wisdom and virtue within any given series of the genre (and there are many).

My own taste does not include Anime in a favourite to pursue and I am not the person to come to for further information. There are millions who love the genre (if that is the correct word), they will give importance to it and live their lives accordingly.

I am perhaps missing something, but I can live without it. :)

I would believe anime would mean animated cartoons and stuff like that.

If it's just animation, didn't Walt Disney already excel at it over fifty years ago? Wasn't Mickey Mouse one of the first animated characters?

I'm not into anime but, I must admit to some sort of fixation over Light Yagami.

I have lived without it all my life so far. You have explained it well for someone who is not a fan.

I am not a fan of cartoons of any sort, so anime isn't my cup of tea. &MamaOzzy is a huge anime fan, on the other hand!

Sorry, I forgot she was using the longer version here: it's MamaOzzy3881

I can live without it as well. There are so many other ways to be entertained and distracted...
